where do people get these dumb ideas about dragons?

so this lady comes over to look at my computer i have for sale. she brings her mother and her daughter. and as always peaches is clung to my shirt on my shoulder. the daughter was very intrested in peaches so i was showinger her peaches and offered to let her pet peaches then the mother steps in oh no it takes a highly trained person to handle these dangerous lizards they bite and are highly poisionus. i just stared and said what? :shock: . then we argue back and fourth on how they are not dangerous and not poisionus finaly i said if she was a dangerous poisionus animal would i do this and then kissed peaches on the nose.
i really dont know where anyone would get this idea of a bearded dragon unless they watched the movie holes one too many times.
does this face look dangerous to you?lol.

lol, this weeks been really quite nice so i've been taking my beardies out one at a time for a bit of air and sun. The passer byes are just hilarious in their reactions to them. One woman, everytime she goes past my drive shouts oh no and starts walking past really fast.. even though she knows me and must know i'm not going to sit there with a killer on my shoulder! :lol: some mothers will actually ask if they can come see the dragon with their little ones which is great the kids give me all kinds of reactions but mostly come away wanting one . Another chap was giving the low down on his reptiles, i think he'd forgotten he was on his way somewhere he was with us so long. I must admit i like sitting there waiting for the next reaction they always cause a stir. Julie

ok, she mixed it up with a komodo monitor, which a beardie doesn't look like at all, but I can get her mistake...

if you're badly informed, anything slightly resembling a lizard is the same to you...

Yes I actually did a 3 month research project on komodo monitors. They are SO COOL!

As for the adults that haven't seen him before, the first comment I get is "Is that real?" Some people are curious about him and ask all sorts of questions, which I happily answer, but what I really get a kick out of, is when grown men see me with him, realize that he IS real and are absolutely scared to death of him! I have a neighbor who's about 6'4", and he's terrified of him and won't come within 3 feet of me if I'm holding him. His two little boys pet Ming all the time, and they think its hysterical that "Daddy's afraid of the lizard!" LOL

We had our girls in Tucson with their leashes on. On lady said "I thought you were wearing a stethascope." Your story of the 6'4" man reminds me of the last time we had Miss O on a trip, it was about 2 or 3 weeks before she died. I had her on my shoulder and some border patrol men asked us some questions about problems they had in the area, then they noticed Miss O on my shoulder, my right shoulder and I was driving and they were talking to me outside the drivers side door. They said "What is that!?!" I told them and asked if the wanted to pet her, while holding her in my had toward them, they backed away and said "no thanks". They were not small men and were afraid of a little sweetheart of a bearded dragon. It's hard for me to believe that "macho men" would be afraid of such wonderful pets.
