How do you know when to start a 2nd tote for your Dubia colony?

When you start seeing males with kinked up wings.

That works good, but the other thing is whether or not you are producing more than you need. If you already have enough adults and are producing plenty of nymphs, then you can either take some adults and move to another tote, or take some nymphs and move some to get a second colony started.
