Randi,

Personally I would say yes but i know you've been cautioned about too much protein. PW's have so much calcium in them that I can't imagine it would hurt but have never had a beardie in Blazer's situation of healing so fast that I don't want to give bad advice! If he only ate 15 I would say give 15 more. Especially if he is eating his veggies in whatever form. Hermes is almost 16 inches and will eat 50 PW twice a day plus 40 crickets. Twitch is almost 20 in and she eats about the same.

Hello Randi,

How are the stools, & what do the urates look like? How long have you had him for now, 3 weeks?
How often are you giving the calcium for him? If you give more phoenix worms, do not dust them since they are already loaded. That is excellent that his appetite is improving so much & he is eating so well. Is he eating greens & veggies on his own?
You will have to post new pictures of Blazer soon.

Hello. He has only had 2 stools in the last 4 days, or so. In fact, when I read the question about his stools it scared me because I hadn't seen any, I think we spoke Thursday, Tracie? The day before that was when he had that grayish loose stool. Thank goodness I did find another. It blended right in with his basking log. It must of been yesterday because the white seemed hard and the green was as though it had been there a day or so! I know I need to get glasses now! I was so relived to see it finally!! If he's on the "every other day cycle' then hopefully I'll get to report good things today!

This coming Wed. it will be three weeks since we brought them home.

I'm posting some pics. Some of them are wonderful but some smack me in the face with reality  . He acts GREAT and has so much spunk and energy but his face still looks sick and sad sometimes. I tried to get some good shots of how he looks all over (including a tongue shot when he was eating his HUGE lunch :D ) In fact, it was about 2:00 or so and since it was soooo hug, I decided to give his little body a break and wait till the morning to feed him. I still gave him a bath though. He REALLY pigged out!! He must of eaten about 25-30 PW. ALso, before I offered the worms, he also pigged out on his green slurry :D . I didn't grind it up so fine that it could go in they syringe. Instead, I would get a "clump: on the soft, black rubber part and he went to town grabbing it RIGHT OFF!! I got pictures of that too He won't eat the greens on his own yet but I know he's getting close. I put what was left of the slurry in his tank with him after the feeding today and yesterday. Yesterday I actually caught him taking a tiny bit out.

OK, now for the "OMG, I'm worried about my child.... First, he has stress marks all over his stomach. I've never notice them there till tonight. I took pictures of that. Also, his body looks beautiful to me (except I know he still has extra skin to fill in :( ) But his face, I just don't know. I'm going to post some of his head too. I really son't know if the lighter color on his head is a shedding thing. I hope so though!!!! The fat pockets on their head, when they are malnurished...well, I don't think it looks like his head is filling up with fat. I'm scared and I hope it usually is THIS slow.

On the brighter side though...I love him soooo much!! He had his first adventure on the couch. He was so excited I let him crawl onto the couch, off of me, he didn't know what to do with himself. It was so precious! I got pictures of that too & I hope they come out ok so I can post them.

One more thing I forgot...the tips of his "spikes" are all white sometimes. Is this a sign of stress or something else?
Thanks!!!

Hi Randi,

To me he looks much better considering it's been 3 weeks. It's encouraging that he's eating so well! I hope he'll start to fill out soon!

*hugs*

Hes doing good. The stress marks are going to bug you more than Him at this point. Its a mood indicator and will change like the weather. Marathon.

Randi, I think he looks great. You've mad amazing accomplishments with him in only 3 wks. It does look like his head is getting ready to shed in spots. I wouldn't be concerned about the marks at his belly either. His eyes look nice & bright, keep up the good job. :p

Beardies change their colors sometimes, so don't worry if you see subtle changes. Both of my beardies' spikes on their sides are usually white, and Herme's on his face, too.

Tom, I love your calming effect. 'Marathon' perfect description. Blazer is not going to fill out his fat pads overnight! He's getting excellent care and is so lucky to have you, Randi!

Breathe, woman! LOL *extra hugs*

He looks much better.I am sure its hard for you to see since you see him every day and since your looking for the things that are wrong at the moment to try to fix them but trust me and everyone else when we say you are doing wonderfully. As Tom put it so perfectly this is a marathon so pace yourself and try not to sweat the small stuff.Good Job!

Hi Randi,

Blazer is looking so good :blob8: I totally agree with the above advice. You will drive yourself completely insane if you worry about every little thing. I honestly believe beardies were put on this earth to make their slaves worry
Keep up the good work!

I just HAD to share these pictures with everybody! SO SO SO very relieved. He only took two bites and then backed off. I'll give him and hour or so and if he doesn't eat more of his greens, I'll make him his slurry!! Right after the two bites, well, you'll see

Oh, something very important! I did go out and get non-adhesive shelf liner (thanks Tom and Tracie) Also, I bought two natural slate tiles that will give him some nail filing, as well :) That change is coming today :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
