What's best for Blazer

Looking at her right now, next to the greens where I put her, she sleeps. She needs to fatten up!! I am going to do the FLukers Repta-aid, then, a bit later I'll give her a warm bath with pedialyte in it (this is out normal routine) I want to mix baby food in with the Flukers Repta-aid. What would be better? Squash or peas???? I just NEED to see her start making some major improvements here!!!! She really needs some serious measures here.
I feel she needs more than what I've been doing. Is there anything else I can do and what kind of baby food (squash or peas)would be best? I know squash is gentle but I'm not sure about the peas.

Peas are either an occasional or rare feeder depending on the type of pea. However, most squash is EXCELLENT and considered a daily staple a feeder according to the beautiful dragons food resources list: http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.com/Nutrition.html. I definitely vote for squash.

For weight gain, you might also try some of the chicken baby food, as it will offer a good amount of protein, give her better sustenance, and perhaps a bit more energy as well.

Aside from that, just keep on doing what your're doing: keep her hydrated and warm, offer [gentle] food, and well, you've already got the "lots of love" part down. :love5:

I would go with squash. Its more commonly suggested around here. You could even buy a squash, cook it, mash it and mix it with the repta-aid rather than the baby food!

I vote for the squash too Randi. Puff loves his squash and I think it would be gentle for her. I would also start mixing in a little tiny bit of chicken and gradually increase the amount of chicken that you add in so she can start getting some protein.

My beardies' 2 favorite foods (besides Phoenix Worms and crickets) are acorn squash and spagetti squash. The spagetti squash has lots of calcium...

Looks like the squash is unanimous!
Mine love all of the squashes but their fav's are the yellow and butternut.
They also can not resist Pumkin...but it's only an ocassional item.

Dna14 they do have a butternut squash baby food. :wink:

Hello Randi,

Yes, squash is basically the best sole veggie staple that most everyone uses. Winter squash, yellow squash, butternut squashes are all very good.
How is Blazer doing? Is he basking well today, & did he decide to eat any of his greens at all yet?

No She didnt eat any greens and I put fresh in there twice today. I did get her to start lapping at the syringe again today so that's nice. I am worried about him though. I am going to put a picture of his legs. Im not sure if these little marks are normal or not. G-d I hope they are.
Also, I'm very nervous because we have a HUGE storm onm it's way. LIKE NOW. If we lose electricity, what do I do to keep her warm? Just keep her on me? OK, Im going to send this and then add the post with pics because this storm is really major and I want to make sure you get an update. (she's in a warm bath next to me now) She LOVES her baths but sometimes she tries to climb out and I LOVE that she can do that now!!

Do you have a hot water bottle handy?? You could fill up some flasks with hot water and if the power cuts out, fill a hot water bottle, wrap it up well in a towel (it will be very hot and you dont want to burn her) and set her on top of it. I have heard of people using hand warmers to keep their beardies warm during power cuts. Your body heat will keep her warm for a while - wrap her up in a blankie and put her underneath your jumper..... hopefully someone will have some other ideas... just wanted to give you some options quickly, before the power does cut out!

Sorry to hear your about to get hammered with a storm. This probably won't be much help right now but I usually keep some of those disposable hand warmers on hand for when the power goes out. You can get them in the sporting goods department at Walmart...they tend to get rather warm so you'd want to wrap it in a towel.

But you could also besides the water bottle...heat some rice up in the microwave and put it in a sock...you will want to be very careful as it will get very hot best to wrap in a towel too. I'm not sure how long it will stay warm as I use the handwarmers and they last about 8 hours.

Holding Blazer close next to your body will definately help.

I noticed you said something about marks on Blazer's legs. Here is a picture of Femoral pores on a bearded dragon. They are much more prominent on the males. Is this what you are seeing on Blazer's legs by any chance?

Hooray! I'm on!! So far, no loss of electricity but the internet got messed up. It's still VERY slow (it took me 15 minutes to get the photos on photobucket!) Anyways, I'm so glad to be back and SOOO glad to see the pictures Dawn posted. Yes, that's what they are. I already copied that pic, with the others, so it's there still. How sad though. The legs in Dawn's picture compared to my little Blazer. I'm really feeling like Blazer is a he now though. hmmm? I also put a couple pictures of his last bath and a picture of an odd mark on his stomach. It is not raised at all but I have noticed it b4 and want to make sure it's not something to worry about.

I HAVE to tell everyone something wonderful..... (about time, huh?!)
After I had Blazer out for a good hour or so (feeding, bathing, loving, etc...) I put her back into her tank. I set her on the basking log as I usually do and she took off like a bat outta hell lol. She ran SO fast twards the front of the glass like she was trying to get back to me. IT WAS PRECIOUS!!!! It was the first sign she's shown me some love back

The picture of her little face, I really shouldnt of put that in there because I took it right after I took her out and before I fed and bathed her so she wasnt relaxed at all. There's such a difference after her bath. She really loves them. SOOOO CUTE.

I've been feeding her twice a day but I'm going to move it up to three times a day tomorrow. Especially since I'm adding the squash. That way I can get all the Fluker's Repta-Aid that the company suggests and I don't want to "make" her take all of that and squash in just two feedings.

OH YEAH!!! I got her to start lapping by putting it on her nose I haven't had my car today (thanks to my daughter) so I've not had a chance to get to the pet store for a few crickets. I'm going to order some worms on-line. I kind of think I'd rather her have a soft bodied creature first anyways. I know it's silly and over protective but I can't help it!! If anyone has any suggestions for good company's to order from for Ohio, please let me know.
