It's not recommended to use MVBs in anything smaller than a 40 gallon. 12 inches is typically the absolute minimum distance for a 100w, though. They are powerful bulbs, so be careful & good luck!

Its gunna get hot in that badboy. But the good thing is he asked. the 160w would have be a disaster. Have you considered a Repti 10.0 and maybe a regular basking bulb.

Trying to keep her away from buying the Repti-sun 10.0 fluorescent as it will cost her so much more in the long run.

Besides, the MVBs are better.

I have heard that maybe one of the other MVBs, maybe the power sun wouldn't be as powerful as the T-rex, so would that maybe be better?

What I'm thinking is that the basking area maybe adds an extra 3 to 4 inches off the floor of the tank. That would be too much then, wouldn't it?

It seems if the bulb should be at least 12" away from the dragon, it would be difficult to do that if the tank is only 12" high. Also will bring the temps way up. Not sure how she will get a temp gradient (cool side). Can she somehow put the light above the tank?

I'm not sure if she can or not. This was a complete impulse buy on her part.

Now she just wants to use the Repti-glo until she gets more money to buy what she needs, which is in January at some point.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
