I would guess by the response that nobody has any idea? I have never seen this done, and it really serves little to no practical purpose. If its to tell what dragon is what I would question why they are being housed together. As far as the male to female this isn't hard to determine if its an adult. If its a hatching or juvenile then sexing is an educated guess at best. What was the reason for the question? also this probably varies depending on who is marking them. Probably best to just ask someone where you have seen them with markings. You could also consider using a label on the enclosure.

A sharpie marker on the belly works just fine. Of course when they shed it will be gone.

In response the chadwick757 it is not unusual for hatchlings to be housed together and marking them is just a way to identigy them.

thank you very much for that info. i wasn't sure if the sharpies would hurt them or bother their skin at all.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
