Hey all. Dont know if this should be here or in health, but.... Took Schnitzle to the vet cause i thought she was impacted. So vet took X-rays and said she wasnt impacted, but she didnt like this white area on the x-ray. She said when she touched that spot that schnitzle jumped. I havent been able to get any reaction. She said she was not sure what it is, but said it could be just a tissue mass, or maybe even cancerous. But she wasnt sure. She said she was going to bring it to a meeting of radiologists this month and see if anyone could see what it was. Now this vet doesnt specialize in reptiles. She has experience from when she was down in fla., but does some stuff for us like fecals, and well check ups for us cause shes alot cheaper than the reptile vet in our area. Was hoping Tracie or any one else who may be able to decipher these images could take a look and let me know what they think.

Looking at that x-ray kinda looks like inflammation near the joint. But then again I am no x-ray tech. However to find out if it is a tissue mass or maybe even cancerous they will need to do bloodwork! I wish you all the best!

Hello Mike,

When are they going to be evaluating the x-ray?
I agree, bloodwork could show cancer so that is probably one of the first things I would consider getting done at the moment. It appears to be on or around the joint but could be inflammation of soft tissue, possibly an abscess or cyst of some sort. Can you feel it or see it upon physically looking at her? One good thing is though, is that it is not close to the internal organs so hopefully it can get taken care of relatively easily. It is still a little ways from her heart.
How long has this been going on for?
Is she eating well?

Thanks for the response all. Not sure when the meeting is, but believe it is soon. Will ask about the blood work when she call with the results of her fecal. I cant feel it or any thing. like i said she doesnt jump or have any reaction when i touch the area. Her appetite is nill! She has never been a good eater. I was giving a slurry of ox bow critical care, collards, and butterworms. Now I have been kinda force feeding horn and butter worms, because I dont want her to get too used to the slurry. She was very dehydrated. Went to see Nichole(Howlin Gale Dragons. She lives relatively close by, and bought a new baby from her!lol) Nichole recomended pedialyte. Gave her that for the last 4 or 5 days and WOW! She is out in her tank now, tearing it apart! lol. Seems to be doing GREAT now, aside from not eating alot. Also hasnt eaten any greens in a while. Except the ones in the slurry.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
