Never expected this one, my grandma is aprently bragging about Daenareys and calling her her grandchild :lol: She even comes over and asks to hold her and sits with her and talks to her :mrgreen:

This winter is lasting to long in north east us :x at least tody the pourch was 80 so Daenareys could at least look at the outside some more. However its been between -10 to 40 outside even though its supposed to be spring :lol:

Spring can't come soon enough.
On the nice days lately ( the few 40-50 ones we have gotten) if it's not windy I'll open a window to let Pepper sunbathe. The patch of sunlight stays at a nice warm temp and room doesn't get overly cold. He is captivated watching the bugs and critters in the yard.

We havnt had many bugs active yet only a few bees inside and ladybugs, Daenarys is more interested in birds and my dogs when looking outside :lol: Hoping to have enough money saved in the next 2-3 weeks to start buying supplies for her new cage im going to build.

We have a beehive outside the window, so usually when it's warm enough to open the windows the bees are flying around. They are excited for spring too I think.

Thanks, she's been getting alot of attention latly. A few old friends have been coming over and they always want to hold her and have her out when we watch tv and stuff. My dad also has been checking on her every day at noon when he comes home to check on the dogs he goes in and talks to her

I know what you mean about the books to i was always in a rush to read about Daenarys, Tyrion, Arya, and a another charackter i cant mention :wink: George R.R. Martin sure knows how to make you love and hate his charackters :lol:

I think you are wonderful for doing your research and for trying, and for taking such great care of her. Unfortunately, there are so many people who don't take good care of their animals-even when they know how.
I can understand a petstore selling a BD at a lower cost when it's tail is half there, or another kind of "imperfection". But IMO, it is completely irresponsible for a petstore to sell animals with health issues which can be treatable by the petstore or, better yet, completely PREVENTABLE to begin with. And if they are selling animals without proper education to the consumer as to what needs that specific animal has, in order to make it healthier...that just breaks my heart.
It sounds as if you had to find out on your own what health issues your BD had. It's a good thing you became the owner, but I wonder how many others with good intentions are buying them from that petstore without knowing how to "fix" the animal's problems. They should at least include one free visit to a vet or ....a book about BDs or a pamphlet about what health issues to watch for, or something!

Unfortunately it's just the teeny tiny tip of the massive titanic sinking iceberg. Between lack of education, misinformation, products that are harmful or just useless, all the sales gimmicks from makers of products claiming to be the best, and then people that just dont give a bleep about proper care and education.
I think I can speak for almost everyone reading this, thank goodness for these forums. Made many a new beardie owner more prepared. Yeah, we have to sift thru a lot of information, decipher some things, figure out what's best for our particular situation, take note after note, come back and read again, bookmark a thousand pages and so on. But why not? Id rather take hours out of my time surfing the interwebs of useless crap just so im entertained , to actually learn something about an animal I want to get so I can give him a better home and life. And maybe even help educate the bringers of doom at the pet stores. Right??
And for the OP and everyone else that has taken the time to help the helpless, I thank you.

Couldnt agree more :mrgreen: The store actualy gave me a warrentee wich they give with all there animals but because she was 15$ or discounted or w/e they had to void the warentee, wich would of allowed me to return her or get money back if she became sick or died within 2 weeks of purchase. I didnt care however as once i buy a animal its mine through sickness and health but its worth noting they must of known she wasnt in the best of conditions when sold. As you said thank goodness for this site, allowed me to find all the information i needed to get her healthy and happy. I just wasted about 100-150$ on un needed and useless supplies on the way there thanks to store information and other faulty info i found on other sites :lol:

We ended up with a 15% discount on the viv he was already living in, and the supplies that came with it. We would have spent less if we knew about this forum first. We were sold a water dish in his viv that we NEVER use, and we were sold the stinky climbing items that were probably ridden with old fecal matter from having (who knows how many) other BDs climb it till they were sold. And so we had to purchase new cork branch and driftwood a week later. And then there was the used lamp that had a short in it so we had to return it and get a new one. What a pain!
But I will say, that the reptile shop we bought him from at least knew about lighting and UV lamps etc, and the viv we got opens from the front which is awesome. So, after a good cleaning, and new basking branches, etc, we did end up with something good for him, but like I said, it would have cost less if I would have known more from the beginning, and gotten everything new.
I'm pretty sure our BD will lose the tip of his tail, when we purchased him, it was kinked just at the very tip, now the tip is still kinked and turning black...super tiny piece at the very tip of his tail, and I'm waiting for it to fall off. He was in with another male when we bought him, and although they were very young (about 4-5 months old, the other one was a bit skittish, and I'm thinking it bit his tail tip at one point.
Anyway, thanks for sharing the pictures...she really is beautiful.
