Tales of Thresh and Fizz *Update*

Hi everyone!

So Deb was amazing today and came over and helped me pick out the new baby for the family. Except he isn't so much of a baby. And he may also may not be a he. :lol: He's from the same clutch as Baron was from, so his birthday is March 10th! And holy moly what a healthy juvie.

Even though he is a bit small at 12 inches, he can eat. Let me tell you, he can eat. Deb got pictures of him eating when I first gave him food 5 minutes after him being in the tank. 2 bowls of roaches later and a bowl and a half of baby bok choi and he seemed content. SO. PICTURES. I only got 3 before my camera died.

The last two are kind of crappy...But the camera was making angry red flashes at me and I was trying to get some.

Update on me for everyone else: I went to the doctor today, I've got severe congestion and it's causing me to have a head cold. I need to take advil cold and sinus, steam and then use Hydrasense four times a day to help break everything down. I called into work today because it's giving me a head ache and I want to get a running start on this and I wouldn't if I worked.

It can give me a sinus infection or worse if I don't start working on this now(since I've been ignoring it for so long) so if it gets worse or I get really bad pains I have to go back and get put on antibiotics. Jen was really forgiving in me not going in, and I may not go in tomorrow depending on how good I feel. We'll see.

I've managed to network a bit with worms and hopefully I'll get some sales in. If I do that'll make up -mostly- what I lost not working.

I didn't go in today, either. The headaches haven't gone away fully and it gets really annoying. I have tomorrow off and then I should be back to work Thurs.

I'm glad you finally got to the doc and got this sorted & hopefully by Thursday you'll feel much better. It's always lousy to be sick. Hopefully you'll get rid of the sinus infection and your headaches will go away. They are wicked, my son gets them during the winter, somehow he's managed to get through the last two without antibiotics. I'm a chicken, when I develop one I go straight to the clinic and get antibiotics. Just rest & do your treatments and fingers crossed you're good as new soon!

Thanks Deb. I'm feeling pretty good today.

I gave Thresh a bath in the sink last night. She can jump clean out of the water. What a little stink! I had to watch her like a hawk while I was making some food for me.

As for Thresh, well she's growing in length, so now you'll really have to watch her. I had Didi in one sink and Rubio in the other, normally they can't get out, but Rubio jumped into Didi's sink and almost drowned Didi :lol: I was shocked, Rubio is so big it's hard for him to jump out of the 8" deep sink...stinker! Luckily my neighbour noticed and I got Rubio out right away, guess he won't be having baths with anyone in the next sink going forward :roll:

My coughing is gone but I'm still pretty phelmy but it's better then before.

And oh goodness! Rubio what a stinker. :lol: I'm glad everyone is okay though.

I would say you'd want to continue what you've been doing for a good few days yet, to get rid of the rest of the sinus yuck. Glad you're feeling better, though.

Hi all,

It's been a long time since I've been on. Everything is good here. I'm still working 6 days in a row and it's exhausting. My sole days off are spent trying to get ready for the holidays and just not thinking about much. That and errands and chores I don't do because of work interfering.

Thresh is doing really well! I measured her on the 27th of November, 4 months after I got her on the dime and she was 17.5 inches long. She's eating like a pig and I don't think she even realizes it's winter. She's up all day and goes to bed on time.

I'm not spending as much time with her as I wish I was. I'm having trouble making sure she gets daily soaks because of how emotionally taxed I am.

My parents aren't coming for Christmas, and it's just been this stupid roller coaster of emotions and it's very upsetting for me. It's my second Christmas without them and I'm very bummed out. I wasn't even going to bother with a tree or anything, but ended up caving on the 1st and Brandon, Brandon's step brother(who is staying with us for a while) and I went out and got a 4 and a half foot tree, lights, decorations. It was really nice and I appreciated the emotional break. I really needed to just sink into CHRISTMAS. It's my favorite holiday because of family and friends.

I'm keeping up with everyone, even if I don't post. So no worries on that front. I know what everyone is up too.

Brandon is first in line for a Store Manager job in 3 to 6 months. If a store opens up in that time, locally, he'll get promoted and we'll scoot out to where ever is closest to live and I'll either find a new job or relocate to a different job or to the New West store.

Kyle, Brandon's step brother, moved in with us. He got screwed out of a job out of the city, and had a chance to come back to his old job. He needed a place to stay because he's broke from moving out of city and then back. So we offered out place. He's cleaning in exchange for free rent. Honestly it's nice living with someone I get along with. JT is still with us, and I'm hating it. I want him to leave and Kyle to stay because Kyle is a lot more easy going and easier to talk to. I don't get irritated with him like I do JT. It's hard and confusing, Brandon is trying to work out something that will be best for me because of my depression and anxiety. I'll give updates on that as it comes and so I can vent.

I'll try getting a few pictures of Thresh up tonight or tomorrow afternoon sometime? If I take some more that is. I haven't been taking many pictures of her. I feel so terrible.

I was wondering where you'd gotten to. You're working 6 days in a row, is this for any length of time or just temp. And what hours are you working? Makes for a good paychq but not emotionally, wipes you out. Sorry to hear that.

Can you not give JT notice if Kyle will stay? Or do you have to wait until Brandon sees what's happening with his job? Well, until then, enjoy the fact that you don't have to clean so much & get into Christmas.

I hope things do settle at your place, anxiety is so difficult to deal with. And I'm sorry your folks can't get out for Xmas, but at least Kyle is there now.

Wow, Thresh is really growing! Good for her and good for you for being such a good Mommy. She's survive you not having as much time with her, she will, honest.

Titan's YF is starting to get worse, so he's going to be getting the cream every 2 days instead of every 3. I'm back to work 3 hours a day & I'm very tired, but have to give it a try, just can't overdo. At least all the timers work, so I don't have to have Jake come in, thanks for helping me with that! It's nice to get up in the am & all the lights are on!

I'm not sure. Right now I'm Thurs-Tues, with Wednesday off. It's been like this for a few weeks. Next week I get Wed-Thurs off but we'll see if it lasts.
I've asked for time off twice, once for family and once for my birthday, and asked for the 15th and 16th off because Brandon's Mom and StepDad are coming down then, and Jen had to think about it for to long. I'm getting a bit tired of working so much and only working minimum wage...My hours are barely affected by this, I work 6 days a week for only maybe 35 hours. It just isn't worth it for me right now. Not for all the stress.

We want JT to move out and Kyle to move in, but Brandon is going to deal with it. I can't stress over it so I'm letting him handle it. If I stress I'll get sick, I always do when I'm way to stressed out. It's hard enough being worked to the bone.

I know she'll survive. It just makes me sad cause I love her a lot and I wish she knew a bit more sometimes.

Good luck with your ankle and Titan! And work. Glad you're going back, even for a little while.

I have to be back full-time by the end of January latest as my salary has declined by 25%. Our short term is 100% pay for 8 weeks, then down to 75% until you're back to work or on long term. Every hour I work I get paid 100%, every hour I don't is 75%. Because we get a bonus, probably next week & I have 3 pays in January I can manage until almost the end of Jan.

Having the timers working means I save $100/m with Jake not coming in & he's fine with it because he's now been hired full-time as our custodian for the 3 buildings, he's doing a great job, too. The buildings have never been cleaner. So with that & a few other cuts, I can manage. I got birthday $ & that went to the vet, as had to take Leo, Didi and Titan to the vet last time. Titan goes back to the vet on Dec 14. I keep hoping the stupid YF will cure, but it just keeps getting worse every day. Kind of depressing but I told him today that we'll just keep fighting.

I understand how stress can make you sick, so glad Brandon is handling the JT situation. Hopefully JT can find another place and Kyle can stay, that would work better for you! As for your job, hope you can get some sense through your manager, sounds as if she's using you to make up for whatever the other person doesn't do. Did you get the time off you asked for? Aren't you allowed vacation time?

I got the time I asked for. funny thing is, if I didn't get those two days off, I'd have to work the whole 7 days no break because Jen is gone Tuesday, and Brandon is gone Wed-Friday. So it would have been days off I would have gotten ANYWAYS or me working that many days in a row.

It sure feels like it, that's for sure...I wish I could find a job that pays me 11+ an hour and has me work 40 hours a week, but only 5 days a week. It would be way less stressful on me, even if it's an extra five hours because at least I'd be getting 2 days off a week and not one randomly.
