Tales of Fred the adventurer! - Updates 4/25/14

Hi everyone! I just wanted to make a 'blog' about my bearded dragon Fred.

He came to us on January 16th 2013, around 2PM. When I saw him, even though there were other babies in his tank, :love10: I knew he was the one I was going to take home that day... Of course the pet store guys gave us bad advice, so I'm so glad to have found this place, or else I would of gone on, still doing things wrong. (Thank you to those that helped me!) On the drive home, I was so nervous his little tiny container would slip from my hands and down to the ground, I also thought his container was a bit too small, (his tail was curled a lot) but, after a safe ride home, I held him until his tank was set up, then finally I put him in there, we put crickets in, but he just stared at us, after a little while he ate some. (Again, I was worried.)

Anyway, time for some pictures!

This is Fred on his first day home- So tiny!:

I was very nervous and thought he stopped breathing when he was in this postion :shock: :

Oh and his tank has changed since these pictures were taken! :wink: Oh and the pictures are small because they were taken with a iPad.

Ugh... I have had to rewrite this post 2 times!

That's it.

Long story short... I GOT A 40 GALLON! I'm so surprised! I didn't buy it either! Well, my dad did. He came home with it. I'm so surprised!

Fred's only taken a few steps in it, I think she's surprised too! :lol:

Pics when I can get off this evil iPad.... I'm so mad about this. It kept deleting my post!! :x I'll post the whole story on my comp.

Okay, so the story about the 40g is:
I was just talking to my mom about prices and stuff. Then my dad comes home and he's carrying a large box, I couldn't read the label though, then he sets it down on the couch '40 gallon reptile tank' I just stood there in shock, then I gave them hugs and we moved Fred into it. She looked stressed for a while, probably because it was so big, after a while she settled on her cactus. But now most of the marks are gone, so I think she's slowly getting used to it. I also think she's happier too, because she has more exploring room.


Anyway picture time!*:

^ Notice Fred in the background? She stood like that for like 10 minutes then ran to her cactus for comfort. :lol:

*: Please excuse the stick-on on the cool side, that's tempoary until I can get another probe thing. I'm aware of how in-accurate they are. I'm also now saving up for 1. another probe. and 2. a temp gun.
And about how up the probe in the hot side is, the therm fell off the side of the tank and it pulled the probe up.

^ Has no idea what's going to come the next day... (if your wondering... A 40g comes the next day)

^ "This is big...!"

^ "HELP! I'm stuck!" (Don't worry, after these pictures were taken, we moved her to her cactus and moved those rocks away from the glass.)

^ "Normal human behavior... Stands near her stuck dragon, TAKING PICTURES, instead of helping the stuck dragon!"

^ "GRR.... I'll get you one of these days! With... With... CRICKETS! Yeah! Crickets! You better be afraid!"

Okay, now for question time:
Fred's cool side is 60 degrees, and her hot side is 70, I know these arent the right temps, so... Should I raise the wattage of my basking bulb because she's in a bigger tank now? It's a 60 watt.

Guess what?! We bought Fred some tile! We sadly couldn't get slate, but we did find this pretty brown 'mesa' tile, I can't remember the full name, but I think it was 'mesa' something. Anyway, my ipad is dead so I can't get pictures, but we are going to set it up later today!!!

Thank you! I absoutely love her! I have a few more pictures to post, but their on my ipad and I haven't gotten the chance to send them to my computer yet. She was shedding her head the other day, and it looked like she had dragon horns! It was so cute! I couldn't get a good quality picture though... Zooming in to take a picture on an iPad makes it bad quality. And that's why I want a camera. :x

I learned something new about Fred these past 2 months...

She likes cartoons. I was watching tv with her in my hand one day, and she moved her head up to the tv (it’s mounted pretty high.) I thought it was so cute, but my iPad was dead... so I couldn’t get a picture,

Anyway, every time I take her out, I’ll show her the tv, (if it’s on, and if I know it’s not on animal planet, she doesn’t like watching animal planet... Especially the snake shows, I know how she feels though. :shock She’ll almost always look up at it. BUT I NEVER HAVE MY IPAD!
