Swollen toe??

A month or two ago my beardie got his nails clipped at the vets. The nurse made him bleed on quite a few toes, and one of them was cut so short it was a little painful for a few days afterwards.

I’ve noticed that that particular nail hasn’t grown back at all since then. However, the same toe on the other foot seems quite fat and swollen compared to the other, and his nail appears to be either bruised or black. There was a few times where he got his claw stuck in the vent at the back of his Viv, and I had to gently unhook it because he was just yanking away. I think that may have potentially damaged his nail, as it’s not looking too great. He’s had a mildly dark beard for a few days too, so I’m wondering whether or not it’s sore? He’s going to the vet this weekend anyway for a check up, but I just wanted a second opinion as well.

The mildly black beard is probably pain --- please do something w/ the vent in the back of the tank -- and if he has a mesh hammock take it out --- that way he wont get it caught in there as well -- I would not let the vets office trim nails anymore - they dont know what they are doing --- for keeping nails so they are not so sharp you can change his substrate over to a textured non adhesive shelf liner or a slated ceramic tile ---- it keeps the nails down plus it is cheap and easy to clean -- has many advantages --- someone else will haft to help w/ the nails and what to do w/ them

I asked for a reptile specialist to trim his nails but when I booked him his check up, it turns out she wasn’t a reptile vet, just a normal nurse. He’s having his appointments at a different vet now with a few reptile specialists. What should I do about the vent?? I was going to cover it but obviously that will block the air into the tank.

He’s got one either side of his vivarium, two at the bottom and two at the top. He went through a phase of surfing the walls, and that was when he got his claw hooked through the vent.

Is he still getting to that vent? I see a rock is there --- anyway to put decor there to detour him from getting to it?

The rock blocks that one, but it’s the one on the bottom on the other side that’s the problem. The decor is a good idea though, I think I’ll buy another rock to stop him from accessing it in future. The vents at the top are too high for him to reach anyway, so they’re fine!! Thank you!!

The vet thinks the toe is broken because they have really tiny bones in their toes that are apparently very easy to break. He recommended keeping it clean with antiseptic and said it’ll take a while for the swelling to go down because their inflammatory response is very slow
