Super Trooper Charlie

Such a good little monster. We just got home today, and Charlie is happy to be in his own tank again. The bugger is going to into shed again. He's going to be a grumpy baby.

My Charlie has only bitten me once. It was by accident when I was hand feeding him. It hurt!!! Since then, he is always very very careful and won't take greens from my hand unless I hold them above his head so he can see both sides and know he won't get my finger. So considerate!!

He's grown a ton in the last two weeks. Measured today at 13 inches. Wowsa!!! I've gotta weigh him soon. I don't know if I'll believe the number.

Super Trooper Charlie hasn't been feeling so hot lately, but there are some adorable pictures of him anyway.

Sorry for the low quality, I misplaced my camera sometime around Thanksgiving and have been using my phone. I am just so excited that Charlie is eating while on these meds. I've been giving him soy yogurt and pushing fluids, and his appetite isn't terrible considering that he is also shedding. Such a trooper.

He has no problem whatsoever with veggies. Absolutely loves them. He's not into crickets at all right now. Completely ignores them, even when offered by hand. Living on freshly shed supers and salad with a stawberry soy yogurt and calcium slurry for dessert. Hopefully once he is finished with the treatment course, his appetite will pick back up.

My little trooper has been doing pretty well. He just got cleared of parasites, fecal came back negative on Monday (YAY!!!) and he has been growing and gaining weight like nobody's business. He has however refused to eat anything but a few bites of greens and 4-5 super worms a day since we got back at the beginning of January. He still won't eat crickets.

I've got it set up now so that he is on the floor for part of the day (while I am home) with his heat lamp and a UVB light.

When he is there, he will chase super worms a bit and eat his greens, but in his tank, he just looks miserable all the time. I don't know why!!! And I am pretty frustrated. I can't buy him a new tank right now, but I also shouldn't have to. At 16" he is not too big for a 55 gallon. He has his 24" reptsun 10.0, a log, tile floors, hammock, tissue box cave/hide. I've tried covering the glass on three sides and leaving it open. No difference. He just looks (and acts) miserable.

He is happy on my floor though.

My final thought is that maybe he prefers a solid basking area, so I am going to get a bid cinder block or some bricks to make a platform. Any other suggestions would be more than welcome. I've had pretty much THE WORST week ever, so if I could remedy at the very least this thing with Charlie, it would make me very very happy.

I bought some cheap rock squares from a local rock company. Got a bunch of scraps for less than a dollar each. You may be able to do something similar.

sorry for your week, Charlie looks fantastic and he's got a clean bill of health so cheers for that, right!
