I'm glad to hear she's softening up! She is very cute. Not sure about the twitches, but you should probably start a thread about it in the Health section.

When I first got my beardie, he was pretty nasty too. I never got bit, but I got lots of beards, open mouths, and scratches. Holly was the one who gave me advice about taming him, and it worked well. She knows it all. Thanks again, Holly! Now, a month after he came home, my beardie has calmed down and is mostly tame. I find that the best time to handle is late at night, after the enclosure has cooled off. My favorite thing in the whole world is to snuggle up with Budo (who falls asleep immediately) under fleece blankets with my iPod and a good book.

We just got our beardie five days ago and he is hissing and puffing out too. I was glad to read some of the advice on this post. How is she doing now? What seems to be working the best with her? Our beardie didn't puff out at all yesterday when we tried to hold him but today he was hissing, puffing, and opening his mouth.

She is tolerating me..lol. She was doing really good and then my hubby and I went out for valentines day over the weekend and she is, lets say, tempermental. I think what has worked is just being persistant with her. Offering treats to her when she was gaping and hissing worked too. Each beardie is different though. The whole wait until she goes to bed and put her in a beardie burrito thing doesnt really work for her. I swear she sleeps with one eye open. I would wait 2 hours after lights out and pick her up and she would flatten out and open her mouth and hiss at me. I'm taking it with stride though. Just be patient. It's all you can do! I tell ya though, it is a helpless feeling!! Good luck and I'm glad these posts have helped. There are alot of helpful people on here.
