Hey guys I am looking for a staple worm to feed my dragon while I am waiting for my Dubia colony to grow. My dragon is about 15 1/2 to 16 inches head to tail. Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks!

I'd go with the phoenix wormes, silk worms and horned worms. They are very soft and easy to digest which poses less risk of impaction.

Here is a link: http://www.phoenixworm.com/servlet/StoreFront You buy the phoenix worms from there. I'm not sure how long they last, though. But I hear they are very good feeders. They have the ideal calcium to phosphorous ratio of about 1.5:1...which yu don't need to dust with calcium supplement. Your bearded should be able to get a lot of calcium from just eating it.

The black soldier fly larvae (Repti-worms and Phoenix worms) can be stored for several weeks at room temp, or months in a fridge at 53 degrees.

To tell you the truth I think the phoenix worms might be too small for your bearded. They are really small, but they make perfect feeders for the little guys, though. So you can either go with silkies or horned worms which are very soft and easy to digest so you bearded get more nutrients from it... Superworms are OK feeders and cheap. They have more nutrition than the mealworms and are softer. They are great as part of the staple diet.

My beardies are 7 months old and about the size of yours, and they eat the large. Not all my dragons devour them with the same excitement. They all will eat them, but some pig out and some will just eat them every other day or so. I always leave a small dish of them in their vivs, and offer other feeders, too.

Yours will eat the phoenix worms... Mine will usually ignore the small roaches! My bearded are about 20 inches.

I use butter and phoenix worms as staple worms, dubia is my staple bug. I also offer superworms. My male loves them, but female won't touch the supers. I give wax worms only as the occasional treat. I like them to have variety!
