Sonne - The Great!

I got him from Cheryl @ beardeddragons.co(RioReptiles) and I cannot be happier! Amazing color, superb overall wellness! Just a fantastic job with this guy!

He was hatched on September 1st 2012

His morph/color is Citrus Red Hypo

And HE is a boy. lol

And this is his tank, for now that is. Still not set on the decoration.

I never posted that I moved him from his old 40 gal breeder to my 75 gal!? Well his new home is a 75g and he loves it!

I used the tile from the 40g and it takes up about 2/3 of the tank. so instead of going and getting more tile I used beach sand.

Well sand is really not good for beardies:

It harbors bacteria and hold moisture, not to mention the impaction risk. Some people choose to use sand anyways but I just don't understand taking the risk.

I am fully aware of the risks.. but he likes to dig and sleep in it.

It is still only 5 days old(the setup) and I am not fully set on it. It will change for sure, and I am already thinking of making a dry-lock 3D background for him.

The tank is scratched all to hell, but I cannot complain.. it was free.

He is shedding like CRAZY!!! He is quite funny to watch to try and scrape his body on the sides of rocks and the plants. I am spraying him every 30mins the last few hours to help him out...

His shed is almost over! I had watched him for an hour or two trying and trying to get his back shed off all over the tank, I knew it was all off of him... so I had helped him out last night and pulled it back some. He seemed pleased... lol

This morning I noticed it was off even more, but still on him. Though, I think he is finally getting it, I sprayed him before I left and he jumped down and started to rub all over the plants and got his back shed off! He looks awesome! He still has his sides and belly, and also his face... but man... he looks awesome!

He is done shedding! Well he has little spots on his face/head but he looks to be 98% done! woohoo!

I hope he is in a better mood now.. lol

Wow! His colors are so bright! He looks like he's grown quite a bit since the first pictures you posted And I know it's kind of late now, but warm baths really help the shed come off (even more than misting).

Woah, that one bright dragon. I just love his coloring, the red on his back almost looks pink in the picture! I'm sure his moods will go back to normal soon

Pinkies are really not good, at all. Where did you get advice or read that they are ok? Everything I have read says maybe they are ok once in a great while with adults but Sonne is not an adult. I wouldn't be surprised if you see problems with his poop. If you search feeding pinkies in the health and feeders section. The majority say not to feed them and in the health section there have been impaction issues with pinkies.

I agree with Lindz on the pinkies not being good. I just read in the er section about someone feeding a rat pup and now the back legs are paralyzed (he tried blaming crickets before admitting to the fuzzy) :? Just watch how he behaves and if he's digesting fine for the next few days but hold off on those till he's over 18 months and rarely do give them if you must. I personally would die myself if I saw bandit eating a pinkie ever.

Sonne's tail is starting to shed again... man it has only been a month! Does that seem right for him to shed monthly?

I did notice his tail had gotten chunkier though...
