Running out of options.... :(

Bogie didn't poop for about six weeks of his brumation. The first few weeks he went once every week or two. He would perk up for one or two days every 8-10 days and then go back to sleep. "Bout drove me crazy, but I just figured it was brumation. I was right.
How long is Dino? Snout to vent or snout to tail tip, either one (say which) 117g does sound rather light for brumation. Bogie was over 350g when he started. At one point he actually gained while not eating, How? :dontknow:
If she ate yesterday she may poop for you. If the poop is all dried out when you get home it could just be because she pooped in the AM and it dried during the day. Ask the vet if it is still usable.
From what I have read here the repti aid can't hurt and it might help. You might want to pm Tracie or Vickie for better answers. Don't give up.

Ok she is about 12 inches from head to tail tip. lol ok who is Tracie or Vickie and how do I PM sorry usually just post on forum never PMed anyone. I think i will try it if they say its ok im running out of ideas and i want to do whatever i have to do make her better. I hate seeing her so skinny looking! :evil:

Is there an easy way of opening Dino's mouth? She usually lets me open it a lil but just enough to squirt food in but some still comes out the side because she doesn't open it. My mom said she vet opened it wide up but of course I wasnt there to see or ask how to do it. Does it hurt them?

I had to force feed some meds to mine and she would clentch her jaws tight. I would hold her on my lap, head facing away from me, and cup her chin in my hand. I'd use my thumb and pointer finger and pull it open. It seems like it would make her jaw sore, but if it was too bad, i'm sure she would just open up without force. I'd open just enough to squirt in the meds, but as you stated, some does come out the side.

Ok I will give it a shot I usually just lift her mouth open a bit but im afraid its not enough for medicine just enough to try to feed her baby food. I will figure something out to make her better. She is just so tiny I dont wanna hurt her

I'll PM Tracie for you. As for prying her mouth open- I have seen a rubber spatula reccomended,the kind you scrape a bowl with. If they bite down it's on soft rubber. One person slipped a loop of dental floss between the beardie's lips and lifted it open. Both methods probably work better with help.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DINO WENT POO! I'm still at work but my mom looked and said it looks like a good one to take to the vet! YAY! I have never been so excited about poo lol. She has been eating a couple of greens and a couple of wax worms a day which is better then nothing like before. She still wont eat crickets but I'm so happy to hopefully get answers I dont care! Just thought I would update you guys.

Ok so she has parasites I'm so glad I wasnt there I prolly would have chewed out the vet that said she looked fine just days ago! UGH! But i'm also glad to now give her meds and start working to get her healthy again. And i keep saying her but the vet has her listed as a he. They probably seen something I dont know how to. So i'm guessin he might like it if i stop calling him she.

you won't see the parasites as most are microscopic - that's why you need the vet to check

my crickets come with some worms too, the are black and they are very fuzzy , like small caterpillers, i never fed them to my BD i dont know what they are either, i thought they just slipped in with the order, perhaps we are talking about the same worm

When they have parasites, they don't look any different. Beardies are known to hide illnesses until it's almost to late for them.

Someone in the discussion had told me they were ok they are supposed to clean up after crickets.



Well Hopefully its not to late for dino I gave her medicine and am trying to nurse her back to health. I hate knowing this whole time something was wrong and all these different vets were tellin me everything was fine and i knew it wasnt! All I can do is keep trying an hope we caught it fast enough

Thank will do! I have to give her scratch that him medicine for 10 days the vet said is that a normal amount of time when they have parasites? And I still don't know what else I should do. Is there another type or worm or something that can be a staple that doesnt pass parasites? Oh and do I need to clean all her tank real good now? I never let it get bad and she hasnt been messy since she isn't doing anything but I didnt know or would it matter? Would the parasites be in him or all over his stuff? I don't want to not clean it and him not get better and i don't want to clean it and him still have parasites so should i wait till they are gone?

If possible you need to keep his viv like a hospital room - clean it thoroughly every day, sterilise everything.

Use a steam cleaner if you have one - quicker because you don't have to rinse and you can do all the furniture at the same time. Also it kills everything.



It depends on the parasites but some are transferred from the poo to the viv then back to the beardie from eating or licking things that have been contaminated by being in the viv or crawling over/eating the poo (crickets seem to like poo!)

As the ova or cysts are microscopic you can't just wipe them up and even bleach doesn't kill some of them (it'll kill your beardie though if it's not rinsed properly)


Unfortunately, even with that sort of regime you can't guarantee that he won't get reinfected but you can cut the risk significantly and you can shorten the treatment time (for coccidia it is quite common to have to treat for several months).
