I feel like I've been missing forever.

I'm glad Rube is doing good even if he's driving you bonkers!

Miso, have you tried rubbing your fingernail down the side of her mouth. If I do that, most of my guys will open their mouths because they like it.

BUTTTTTT my plan isnt going to work. I had planned on having a long basking platform across the bottom stretching about a foot. Then I was going to have a large ramp attached to the back wall starting low in the middle and plataeu-ing at the hot side.
Unfortunatly Ive no realised I cant do this with an MVB because I cant get 12inches clearance. Boo! Thats the problem with wooden topped vivs. To get an MVB inside with the proper temperatures I can only have a basking platform at about 4inches high.

Depending on how much DIY you want to do, its not a total lost cause yet. You could still have a ramp leading up to a chill out area on the cool side of the viv.... giving her a little more scope for 'adventure'. Or, you could cut a hole in the top of the viv.... if your up for that. I was recently emailing Frances (from uvguide.co.uk) and she shared her own viv setups with me. Basically, you can cut a large, square hole in the top of the viv on the basking side - judging from the pics I have I would say it would be approx 10" x 10". You can then get wide wire-mesh pieces from a DIY store and staple this to the top of the viv. Your MVB, in a dome, will then sit on top of the viv, giving you, I would say, a clear 10 - 12 inches of height for furniture :D

Why don't you try to get a picture of Ruben/Miso at the vet's office for documentary of their lives, and insist that the vet get in there with them, as the guy who keeps them healthy?
I vote for Jacqui's plan!

Hi guys!
Sorry I havent given you an update in a while. I was trying to hang on until the blood results came back but they STILL havent :angry5:

Id also worked myself up into a horrific state about a local dragon.
We have a local ebay type site which people sell everything from cars to pets on. There are ALWAYS beardies on there so I always have a little browse and oooh and awwww at them.
I came across this guy the other day:
p7182892.jpg

Thin as anything and obviously weak by the way he holds himself. The reason for selling this "bargain" was because of family circumstances, which translates to "we got one and then got bored of it".
I just got myself into such a state about this little guy. I know there was no way I could afford to keep him with money being so tight right now, so I was upset, but then I just became irrate. I spun off into a rage about how people think its ok to starve a lizard but theyd be put in prison for doing it to a puppy.
I just kept sobbing and saying he was going to die unloved.
Mark was obviously furious with me and ended up sending me to bed after shouting at me that I cant save them all.
It took me hours to calm down.

I just...
Only you guys would understand the rage you feel in the pit of your stomach when you see something like this.

BLARGGGGGGG.
moving on.

Ruben:
Rube has been in much better spirits ever since we took him outside. He's still only eating bugs once every few days but other than that he is in good health.
We're planning another picnic this weekend if the weather holds.
The little monster even managed to climb up my leg all my himself!
Spider Rube... Spider Rube...
Im nearly finished cutting the bits for Miso's viv and Im going to use the spares to make Rube a little climbing frame to challenge himself on.
I might need some thicker wood for him though.
He is enormous. He's pushing about 19" now.
His beard is getting all droopy too. I cant resist rubbing my nose into it.
Captain Ruben does not approve.

Miso:
Well what can I say. Ive been on edge waiting for the blood results and convincing myself that she's not growing anymore, despite the fact that she's in constant shed now and ate 40 roaches 5 minutes ago.
Mark says im not happy unless Im giving myself an anxiety attack over something... he may have a point

She's been such a brat recently because her heads been shedding and she's not been interested in being held at all. She has been ona constant mission to make mischief.

This is what greeted me everytime I got her out. She'd leap from me, to the desk, knock as much as possible over, then launch herself at the blinds.
Very clever dear.
DSC00275.jpg

She has also been playing the "nom le bulb" game.
Needless to say Ive had to remove the branch because every time i leave the flat she manages to knock it out of its holder.
DSC00273.jpg

Here she is mid-shed in grump mode.
DSC00300.jpg

And here she is in her post-shed glory.
Just look at those yellows.

On a nicer note Miso fell asleep on me for the first time ever ever ever!
I put her little pink blankie on my chest and folded her inside (ive tried burritoing her 1000s of times but she is NOT interested if its not her blankie) and she slowly but surely started to lower her head as I petted her.
First she closed one eye whilst i stroked, then two, then ZONK she was gone.
I wish I got a picture, she was too gorgeous for words, but I didnt dare breathe let alone move for fear of disturbing her magesty

Hugs hugs and more hugs!
(not vet pictures yet girls)

Aww Holly..I know. It's awful, cruel, unfair, but..Mark is right..you can't save them all, and working yourself into a tizzy over it isn't going to do you, or him, any good. If you can't take him, maybe you could try to help find someone who could. I would, but I have my hands full with a dog and rabbits..and considering the state he appears to be in, I wouldn't have the time or the financial resources to help him properly. :(
Rube is 19" of sheer fabulousness..LOL. He needs to suck it up and drive on..it's just a beard rub for pete's sake...LOL. Must be some sort of male pms..every man I know right now is CRANKY..LOL. Maybe that's what's wrong with Sakura..she has just been awful lately. Not eating very much and seeming so unhappy. I don't think James would consider taking her outside for fear he'll lose her.
She's not growing?..That's silly!..LOL... Go back to pictures of when you first got her and look at her now..she's HUGE, and gorgeous to boot. I'd be downright grumpy if I had my neck skin hanging like that..LOL.
I know it's like telling water not to be wet, BUT, please try not to worry..LOL..Just try to CHILL..enjoy your babies..kick back..make yourself a gin and tonic..sans crickets...LOL...and just relax. I, myself, am enjoying a cocktail as we speak..I think you should join me..LOL..

Agreed.... Miso is looking HUGE now!!!! She's growing and growing.

I can't believe as bad of shape as Rube was in that he is 19 inches now. That shows you how much love you have given them!!!

I totally feel for you. :( I have cried over so many Craigslist dragons that I can't afford. You should make a post in the Rescue Train thread. Maybe someone else here could take him.

Rube is 19"??? Wow! He sounds like he's doing great. :D

Miso looks beautiful! Her colors are so bright!
I'm with the others; she's definitely growing.

Oh Holly...........I'm right with you, My common sense tells me to not look at craigs list and if I do, I need to not get upset.........right..........When I see something like that, I can barely contain myself.........so I can relate, it is so sad how "BORED" one becomes with their pets, and who suffers.......the precious little ones.........but maybe you can help with the re-homing, as suggested?
We can't take in all the neglected  .........or can we  ........I just need to stop........I'm just throwing fuel into the fire. (I can so fell your pain).......but moving on.....

Just love the new pics. Miso's "jester" collar pic is priceless, and look how little she was.......they grow so fast. She just is determined to be outside tangled in those blinds. "kids" :laughing6:

Bugs and hugs, :love5:

Sweet lord in heaven Ruben scared the living daylights out of me today.

I was giving Miso's viv a deep clean (tiles washed and baked, inside scrubbed etc). I was sat on a towel scrubbing the tiles in a little tub and I had Miso in her bathtub infront of me and about two foot away from Rubens viv.
Miso's little tub has frosted sides so she cant see out and Ruben can see in, so its handy if I need to keep an eye on both at the same time without either of them seeing eachother.
Id put a towel in the bottom of her tub so she wouldnt slide around everywhere but I was giggling because she was launching herself up the wall of her tub and clinging on to the top for a few seconds before sliding downwards.
Ruben caught a glimpse and was looking over his shoulder at her. I wasnt concerned about Rube because he's seen her plenty and never even batted an eyelid. I always keep Miso from seeing Ruben, but not the other way round really (i.e. I'll sit with Miso on my chest pointing towards ruben but so Miso is looking over my shoulder).

I told her off and went back to work scrubbing.
I few seconds later POW! Miso had jumped and made it onto the ridge of her tub and was hanging on.
My hands were wet so I just gave her a beard rub and I called for Mark to put her back in.
THEN it happened....

SMASH!
Ruben has sprinted full pelt into the glass. The noise scared me senseless and I fell backwards from squatting with the fright of it.
Mark comes sprinting in and we look round to see Ruben going balistic!
Not only did he have the darkest of black beards, he was scrambling and ramming into the glass trying to get to Miso and headbobbing.
No Im not kidding. Headbobbing. And so fiercely too!

I have always said Ruben couldnt head bob because of his balance.... erm apparently not.
Apparently diddums is too wobbley to feed himself from a bowl but he will near to break his own neck slaming his head up and down at Miso. Ive never seen a beardie do it so violently.

Mark whipped Miso off to another room. We dont think she saw too much of it. I think she was more shocked by my screech when I fell backwards. I think i was more freaked out than she was!

I got Rube out right away and gave him a cuddle. Within seconds his beard had gone back to his self-satisfied yellow tone.
I told him he was naughty and gave him a bath.
I have absolutely no idea what caused Rube to be so aggressive this time?
I definately wont be letting them see eachother again, but Im still pondering what ticked him off this time.
He's watched Miso for ages before without being bothered, and seen Miso run past his viv.
Mark says he thinks Rube fancied a bit of lizard on lizard action
Lies!
My Rube is a good boy who is saving himself for CJ.

Eeeesh.

I had to share ^_^
Here are a couple of shots of Rube in his pre-strop bath.

I put him in his old bath because Mark was in the other room with Miso and I thought she'd had enough fun.

Holy guacamole! Did he not recognize Miso? Or perhaps he was mad that she was trying to climb out of the tub?

Too bad you didn't get a pic of his black beard. I would've paid to see that one.

Is he ok now? No boo-boos?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
