Road Trip?

This is an odd question, but I just wanted to ask if any of you have taken your beardie on a road trip? How did they respond? Does it cause a lot of stress?

I don't know about a road trip, but my boyfriend transports his between his apartment and his parents house and he does fine. He doesn't show any signs of relocation stress. As for actually in the car (its funny I just posted this on another thread) we try to wait until 7:30 or 8 pm to make the drive so that he will be calm.

Mine loves to go riding. She has been several places with me. We have taken her as far as 45 miles away(we don't travel a whole lot due to my health) and hse loves it as well as being in natural sunlight.

I'm thinking about taking Toni with me to Georgia and Alabama. It's just an overnight trip and I really don't want to leave her.

I've just been keeping a real close eye on Toni and her health. I made arrangements for this trip awhile ago and I didn't know if I should leave her here under her light or take her so that I can watch her. I went and bought one of those small pet carriers.

i am a travel nurse and my beardie goes with me. she has a nice 20 gal tank that she is finally outgrowing but i have it set up for safe travel (nothing that can fall on her) and i have her light so that she stays warm and happy. the light just plugs into the adapter that plugs into the cig lighter spot. works awesome. she loves to travel with me.
we are usually on the road for 2 days. in the warm weather i leave her in the truck in her tank. otherwise i take it in the hotel with me.
she has been traveling with me for a year now. she is just fine and deals with it just great.
by leaving her in her tank it is much easier for her to just adjust to the bumps in the road. sometimes she gets upset with the bumps in the road. oh well.
i want to set up something for her to sit on the dashboard but that will wait till she is a little bigger.
she is 15 inches now. not sure how much bigger she will get.
enjoy yours and no problem with travel.
another thing i did when she was smaller... i bought a clear plastic container that has a lid with a handle on it. i got it at walmart and i put small holes in the lid. all over the lid. then i just used some simple soft substrate and put her in and off we went. but i would not leave her in that for long cause there is no heat or anything. i used it for nightime if i had to. but she is too big now for that.

I have had to take my beardie on overnight trips when taking him to the vet. We end up spending the night after the vet visit. I used a 10 gallon (he is quite small) with a screen top lid. The ride was only 3 hours long so I only set up a heat lamp over the screen top lid plugged into an inverter in the cig lighter power outlet. For the tank bottom I used reptile carpet. I had two digital probe thermometers going to make sure that I could get the temps right (when we travelled it was like -35 out in the middle of winter so I had to make sure the tank was staying warm enough). I also bring his fluorescent UVB bulb to use when we get to the hotel.

I think the ride was a little stressful but it wasn't too bad. He seemed more relaxed in the hotel. I had a heck of a time getting him to go to sleep because he just wanted to explore the hotel room. He still ate his evening meal etc. I think it would be okay to take yours on the trip...just make sure to pack food and supplies that you will need for an overnight stay. Put the enclosure you use on the floor so that it cannot fall over. As far as temps I guess it depends on what the weather is like where you are. Your beardie might be okay without UVB for one night...the vet had said mine would be until I got home the following day (I still brought his tube light anyway to use in the hotel).

This summer we have already discussed taking our beardie on summer holidays with us for 10 days....not sure how this is going to work since 4 days of that will be camping. Our beardie is special needs and takes a lot of care so it is almost impossible to find someone to care for him the way he needs it. My Dad means well but it is too much for him to do 3 times a day. I think we will have to take him with us though just not sure how we will do it especially if the weather gets cooler. Anyone got any ideas for keeping a beardy in a campground for three nights??? If the weather is warm enough it will be easy and we can take him out of an enclosure for natural UVB once a day but if the weather gets cool what is the best way to keep him warm?

When I moved to Florida from Massachusetts, and then back to Massachusetts from Florida, Elvis and all my other pets (african dwarf frogs, fire bellied toads, cat) all had to come. For Elvis, I just got a tubbaware bin and fleece blankets and a bunch of hand warmers, and a contaner of worms. I wraped the handwarmers up in the fleece and he was fine. It was an over 30 hours ride (not very fun, exspecially with a screaming two year old brother chucking hot wheels cars at the back of your head) but he was great! If we ever visit Florida (living there didnt work out very well) Then I would definintly bring him!

We use a small cat carrier for MeatHead when we take her somewhere, she loves it! Just sticks her nose out to grab all that sunshine and look around. She did very well, didn't seem stressed out at all.

We also used a warm water bottle so she didn't get chilly. The trips we take her on are only about 10-20 minutes so that works well.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
