I would not worry too much. It will take them 3-6 months before they are mature enough to breed. I've had a few escape and they turned up later that night or within a couple of days. They also require temps close to 90*F to breed. I'm guessing that they will starve and you will find them belly up in less than a week. I had an adult male escape in my garage that I found the next night in my sons bathroom dead.

Hello :). I also live in Washington and one time my cat opened my container of full grown male dubia and they got out. They don't make any sound so that's good but they didn't die off. I found 2 still alive 3 months later. So I am pretty sure they won't die but they could.

I am conduction an experiment I put a small dubia of the same relative size in a Tupperware container I'm going to see how long it will take to die. My grandma ha leopard geckos I gave her some dubia and a little while later maybe a week he cleaned the cage and the dubia she didn't eat was dead.

FYI, roaches are the longest survived organism on earth...not much takes them out short of a nuclear bomb. Which, in turn, would probably not kill them, but mutate them into some huge man eating creature! :D

It will take them a while to die off. That being said, dubias need warmer temps to reproduce. They say 85-95 degrees F. So, you shouldn't have any of them reproduce, to be safe, I would let your house get a little cooler than that during the day temp you gave. Also, you should spray around/under your fridge, washer/dryer, and dish washer. Around AC/heater inside as well if central air. These spots are generally the warmer in the house and would be where these guys will probably seek refuge first.

Well, I will say this. I had some hissing cockroaches which were not supposed to reproduce unless it was at least 85 degrees. They never, ever got even close to that temp and still they had babies like crazy. Sooooo.....I'd err on the side of caution and spray...do whatever to make sure they don't start to populate.

I don't know. I just know that you can't always rely on typical behavior of critters. You could call a bug place and see what they think. They'll probably know more of what you should do. Good luck with it!

Okay thanks. I think I got them all. I found 1 the second they escaped. Found another a but later and then another on the egg crates under the heat pad. I only remember seeing 3 fly up into the air maybe 4 but it won't be able to reproduce we have dogs an cats so if it made it to adulthood try would wipe it out.

Glad to hear it! I totally get it, too! I loved the adult hissing cockroaches because they were so slow and didn't look horrible. However, the babies were wicked fast and looked like bedbugs!!! I'm thinking of starting a dubia colony for my dragon, but the thought of one getting loose.......I'd be freaking out until I found it!! LOL

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
