Reptisun Bulbs

Hey there, can someone tell me if the reptisun tube uvb bulbs require changing before they actually burn out? I read somewhere that you should change them every 6 months but someone else told me to just change it when it goes dark. Any insight will be helpful. Thanks!

Hi ash,

The t8 reptisun should be replaced every 6 months.
The HO t5 reptisun can be replaced yearly.

The bulb degrades with age and puts out less and less uvb with time. So those time frames are when the uvb output becomes too weak, even though the light output will likely remain the same.

Hey Brandon Thank you for the info! I guess I will be replacing my bulbs for our new set up since I’m not sure how long they’ve been in use (bought second hand)
