The other thing i have tried the reptaid for is as my dragon came off the medication i have given him doses of the reptaid but still again no luck at all. so i have had to go for the probiotics and ccf, to get his stomach back up and running properly which i am still in the process at this moment in time. Reptaid maybe work for one animal and be not for others, this is just a guess, as you can see in this discussion that it does work for some! but not in my case. Just thought i'd point this out cause no one else has mentioned this yet.
Thanks
He put weight on in the time i was using it but the parasites were still there.
Actually I have to disagree with this statement. It obviously in this case did not do the job as claimed. This is not supposed to be an appetite enhancer and to just assume because it increased his appetite that it was working isnt exactly proof of the product working.Obviously he was not parasite free until the traditional meds were introduced therefore it "failed"(simpky for lack of a better word).I do agree that some parasite count should be present(which was my initial concern that the product wipes ALL of it out) at all times but a fecal is a simple test that any vet can do and be able to tell the differance as it is rather black and white. All beardies are different and sometimes a product will work for one and not the other.I think that was the case here.Thank you Matteo for letting us know as it is very important that not only those it works for post but also for those who yield no result or negative results to post as well.spyder79":5efd1 said:He put weight on in the time i was using it but the parasites were still there.
This means that it did its job. Wether there were still parasites present is not the issue. The reptaid allowed the animals natural immune system to start combatting the parasites. Did you get a count from the first fecal exam and the second. Many vets that are not well versed in reptiles will think the presence of any parasites means bad. But like tracie said the presence of some parasites is a healthy thing. Its the levels that need to be kept in check. IS your dragon acting healthy now? Or is he still having problems.
Hi Matteomatteo62":3d832 said:Hi, the parasites were still at a moderate count which the labs and vet said that at this amount he still needed treatment, the counts were exactly the same in all 3 fecal tests i had done until this time (4th test) were it was all clear, its only been just over 3 week since his all clear, so now i am just building his system up slowly to get him back up and running again. i have been using avipro plus for probiotics and critical care formula, if there is anything else, please can you comment.
His age and size is:
