Hey everyone! I've seen on the site that you can feed your dragon pumpkin so I was curious about what part of the pumpkin was ok to feed him and how to best prepare it. Any info would be super helpful, thanks!
I serve it like a squash, shred the flesh with a veggie peeler or cheese grater. I even offered some of the "guts" with seeds removed from Halloween pumpkins. I don't offer the skin.
Pumpkin has a low Ca ratio (0.5:1), so keep that in mind when offering.
I've scraped the insides of the pumpkin to create worm like strands and fed it that way. I do the same with different squashes. They are a good highlight to a salad. I'm also finding that the slimier guts of the pumpkin work well as food for Dubia Roaches (thanks Taterbug!)
He's still doing pretty well. Thanks for asking =). He has more and more energy (still not a lot) and we're trying to get him interested in food. Still on his anti-fungal medication as well. Slowly but surely. He has no interest in Pumpkin, but Cooper LOVED it on his salad.
I think the rind is technically edible (like potatoe skins) but it's pretty tough. I only feed Pepper the firm flesh, the skins and guts go to the roaches.
