Hi all,

Well, Electra is back at the vet's under observation :(...I saw her trying to push out a poo, but the purse strings were too tight. She wasn't uncomfortable--no black bearding, etc (until later) and if we weren't so worried it would have been cute to watch her wiggle her hips like that. The vet took the purse strings out and she passed a poop and some urates. That's good it, it means all her plumping is working post surgery. But, we're worried she might prolaspse again (and if she does, her options are surgery and different surgery :()....So praying all her little insides stay put.

Dfoot dfoot dfoot (to keep away the evil eye). And yes, she had two fecals (one by each vet who has been helping to treat her). We are just so exhausted from the whole ordeal..I can't imagine how she is feeling, our little trooper.

Fingers crossed again...

Poor girl...well at least she moved her bowels. I wonder if it would work with a suture on either end of her vent, leaving a smaller opening in the middle and being fed very soft slurry + baby foods for a while. Easier to pass that type of food, it will come out very soft, half liquidy.

Hi AHBD,

Thanks for the rec. Theoretically she was supposed to be able to pass a stool through the last purse suture, but when I saw her wiggling and wiggling and nothing coming out, I took her to the vet. She hasn't eaten much. Mostly just critical care slurry and some greens yesterday. The vet wants her to try to get back on her regular diet , but the idea was that the purse string suture would stay for 10 days while she healed up a bit. Right now, I've got this oral-syringe contraption that delivers the slurry straigh to her stomach. She's a very good sport about it...but it's not fun. HOpefully she didn't prolaspse again, I'm waiting for the 4pm update, and just really really glad I'm home and not yet back at teaching.

Her color really was good and she did seem happy to be home with us, so I hope she continues to improve, get strong and pull through. When she was walking about her viv earlier today, you'd never know she had been through so much just by looking at her happy orange self.

The vet and I are were both happy that she can move her bowels and stuff seems to be getting processed even though she lost so much of her bladder...

Continually praying,
J and J

THanks Esther...So far, so good. Fingers crossed, because i don't want to tempt the evil eye (dfoot dfoot dfoot), but Electra passed two bowel movements today, one after the purse strings were removed, and another just now right before bed. So far, so good. The second one was a good size one! Looks like the innards are working :)

Hallelujah! That puts me in a great mood, which I need because I am getting ready to clean my bin of BIG, hopefully breeding, roaches. Ugh! Give Electra a kiss for me, please. I hope you all have a wonderful night!

Well, a little more than a week out of surgery, we're happy to report Electra seems to be doing well. Yesterday she had two bowel movements, and today she had one (both prolapse free!!!). We have made her a modified basking spot out of an old bathrobe (we only put her on it when we can watch her, in case she wants to get off, so she doesn't disrupt her staples).

Here is a photo for those of you following her saga...

Thanks for continued healing energy and prayers!

Wow, I am blown away by what you have done for your dragon! I just read through the posts and have tears in my eyes. That is the most amazing amount of love for a creature I have heard of in a long time. Prayers and good healing thoughts to all of you. Liz

Aw, I just did what we could --we would have sold our souls if we thought it would help. I'm happy to report Electra ate her first post-sugery hornworms today. (2!!!). She also enjoyed a walk about her viv, and basking on her princess pillow. Fingers crossed her progress continues :) More pics to come!

Best wishes,
J

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
