Hello Janie,

Well, it IS up to you as to whether or not you order the PowerSun. However, I cannot guarantee that you will get a good one that does not bother your dragon's eyes because we do not know where the batches were sent out that had the photo therapy phosphor coating on them.
So....maybe you should consider another bulb this time.

Hello Paula,

I am moving your thread to the Powersun Research thread, ok? I need to keep all of the data together. You can refer to it anytime you need to.

Thanks.

Hi Janie,

They're a couple of dollars more, but I can recommend the T-Rex: http://www.petmountain.com/product/reptile-heat-bulbs/503619/t-rex-active-uv-heat-flood-spot-lamps.html. Ours has served us (Cloudy  ) very well. They emit a higher output of UVB, and also tend to throw out a bit more heat than the PowerSun.

Just my .02 for whatever that's worth. :dontknow:

Hello Everyone!

Great to hear that Abu is doing so well now underneath his new T-rex bulb! :blob8: What a huge difference.

We've had our first bearded dragon, Martin, for about 3 weeks. We set him up with a PowerSun UVB 100W. Over the last couple of days, I've noticed Martin tends to have one eye closed (either one), when he's not interested in something. The thread on the PowerSun problems has gotten me worried.

I've still got the box, and it's the "new" one.

Here's a couple of pictures - first, Martin - the eye towards the camera was closed until he saw me with the camera. The last couple of days he's had one eye closed quite a bit.

The enclosure - the PowerSun is in the right-hand receptacle - I've turned it off. There's no screen in between the light and the interior of the enclosure - the receptacle is mounted through a hole in the cover I made. As you can see, Martin can't get very close to the light, perhaps 14 in. The other light is a regular 40W light to get the temps up to around 105-110.

So, being new to this, I have no idea if Martin's behaviour is indicative of any problems. He seems to be doing fine otherwise. I've turned it off, and I'm going to temporarily replace it with a normal bulb. I've ordered at T-Rex bulb to replace it.

He's about 2 months old, been eating about 25 medium phoenix worms per day, seems calm, but alert. He starts to scurry around the cage when he knows it's time for food. One thing I'll add - Martin doesn't bask right under the UVB light - he prefers the hammock, or the log, which is really a bit away from the UVB.

Hi Tracie:

I think there is an issue with the Power Sun we're using for Rubio. Rubio's 8 mo old, 18"+long and 440+ grams. In the last 2 wks, since we got his new Power Sun, he's been closing his right eye alot, sometimes the left eye, and just lying in his tank. His appetite is 1/2 what it was a month ago. The worst in the lethargy, Rubio being like tigger and always bouncing around. So we shut off the power sun and put Rubio's 10.0 light instead with a separate basking light. It's only the 1st day, but both this eyes are open today; I'll see if he gets his great energy back. We're going to So ltake the power sun back, at some point, but just wanted you to know that Rubio's was the latest Power Sun we bought, I haven't looked at the packaging. So just let me know what you want m to do.

To add to my previous post, it's only the 100W that's causing issues, we've never had any issues with the 160W. We're going to get a credit towards a 160 for Rubio. The difference this am to how he was acting yesterday, was amazing. He managed to get himself up on an egg carton & fall off, it was hilarious; then he started flirting with Issy, which is what he does best. It was great to see him coming back to himself. Did you need me to send you the bulb? We sort of need the credit for the 160W. Please let me know.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
