A quick Martin update:

I've set him up with a temporary 100W Halogen light. He's very alert - both eyes open all the time.
His warm-up spot on the log is 109 degrees. He's hanging out of the hammock. So I'd say
he's much better than yesterday so far.

Hello Greg,

Wow that fast? I am sure that Martin is feeling much better, it sounds like his behavior has improved immensely in a short amount fo time...
Well, I guess it was a bad light then. Did you email Frances?
I am very happy that his eyes are already doing better now. :blob8:

Deborah, sorry to hear about little Rubio have trouble. Go to this link here & let me know which light you have. There are pictures of the old box & the new box. If you have the new box, the probability of have a "new" light is high. If you have the new light, then
I will just let Frances know or will give you her email & you can write her. This thread is a continuing thread so that we can all keep the cases together for data compilation & for reference as well. Thanks! Good you have already turned it off & changed his lighting. I am sure that he is already doing better.

Take a look at this thread with the links to the pictures:

Rubio has recovered alot of his personality back again. Yesterday he hugged me in the morning and didn't want to get down, which was not Rubio. Today he was back to black bearding and head bobbing & trying to sit on top of an egg carton, then falling off it; just the usual Rubio stuff. So having read this thread caused me to check Rubio and to realize he was going downhill, so thanks so much for writing this, Tracie. As soon as I can I'll find the box. It's 100W Power Sun, purchased not more than 3 months ago for Rubio. I'm just glad he didn't get as bad as some of the other beardies, I can't tell you how grateful I am, Tracie, for bringing this to my attention so quickly. We may need to credit the light back to get a different one, so I'm not sure about sending it to you. I will check the photos and made notes of when I noticed his left eye, sometimes both, closing most of the day and he started having difficulty keeping his eyes open. Monday he was a shadow of himself, I must have caught this right in time, as his eyes have been wide open all day, and he's been almost himself, and that's only 2 days later. Thanks again, Tracie, for always helping as you do.

Deborah and my zoo; Rubio, especially, said Thanks Tracie! :D :blob5: :blob8: :blob5:

Hello Deborah,

You are very welcome! :D I hope that we caught little Rubio in time, but like you said at least he has not gotten quite as bad as some of the other dragons. I hope that he continues to improve for you.
You more than likely got a "new" light in a "new" box so I am anxious to see your box.
Make sure that you spend some time rehydrating little Rubio since he has been exposed to this lighting. How is his appetite?
I am rather upset about this, & so is Frances. Just when she was going to give the "all clear" for the Zoomed lighting, then this happens. I hope we can get this taken care of quickly. That is ok if you want to get a refund instead of sending the light to Frances, she will understand. She is, to my understanding, going to be receiving at least 2 bad lights, so, that should help her alot.

Hello Everyone,

It has been about 2 weeks since I have replaced my Powersun with a T Rex Active UV....and sorry for the slow reply (I came down with strep throat-my beardie and i BOTH got sick haha) but Puff is doing much better! He is finally chasing food again and is putting weight back on. Thanks so much for this site and forum for passing the word along so that he could recover without too much heartache!

Hi Tracie,

We replaced the Power Sun 100W with a Power Sun 160W and Rubio is back to normal. He's eating as usual, anything he's given, he's got a great appetite. Since we changed the light he's now up to 491 grams and that was 3 days ago, so he's gained again since. I can't thank you enough to bringing this to everyone's attention. Next round, we're replacing every light with a Megaray, I've heard they're the best and some are manufactured in Canada, so easier for shipping to us, we live near Vancouver, in BC, Canada. So, again, thanks for your help, you're a life saver :D :D :blob5: :blob8: :blob5:

I've e-mailed Frances.

Martin continues to do well. He's eating more, a good bit more active, and doesn't close his eyes during the day.
My TRex UVB light arrived yesterday - so far it's working well.

Hello,

Paula, that is awesome that Puff is doing so much better now! Great news to hear. :blob8: Sorry to hear you got strep throat, I hope you are feeling better!

Deborah, that is really great that Rubio is back to normal now. At least you had a Powersun 160watt to put in to replace the 100watt.
I think he will love the Megaray when you get it. Yes, they distribute the Megaray up in Canada now. I am happy to have helped out.

Greg, that is super Martin is recovering nicely now. So, he loves the T-rex & it is working out well for him? I am happy to hear that. At least now his eyes are getting back to normal. Let me know what Frances says. Thanks!

I am glad we are getting these cases all straightened out now.
Thanks for ALL of your help!

I was just about to ask about the best mvb, as I'll be taking out brutus's tube fixture. Sounds like TRex it is then? How often must you replace them? 6 months?

The T-Rex and Megaray are the best MVB's you can buy. The T-Rex should be replaced yearly, I've heard that the Megaray can last from 12 to 18 months, depending on which one you get.

Just seems so wrong. To have finally bought a mvb in place of the reptisun 10's I have been using just in time for trouble with them.

I sure hope all the dragons here recover from it.

Hello,

Yes, it is too bad that this light is having some problems. It has been a good bulb, so, I hope that it will be just a small isolated problem & they will be able to get it fixed quickly before too many dragons are affected by it.

I hope so, too, Tracie. I'd hate to see any other dragon like Rubio was. It was as if he lost his personality and became a lump with his eye constantly closed. Hope the reason is found, as I've enjoyed the Power Suns I've been using. It cured Issy from having severe seizures, it was amazing. So hearing about these new lights has been sad, I'll just always be greatful to you and Frances for letting us all know in time to fix the problem. We all thank you, I'm sure :D :D

Hello Deborah,

Well, you certainly had a bad case, & I am so glad that you found out in time before Rubio got very ill.
I am confident that they will get enough testing done to determine what the wavelengths were & what levels were being emitted. I know that Zoomed is aware of the problem though, but I am not sure what they are doing about it yet.
I am happy to hear Rubio has improved so much now & is back to his happy self! :blob8:
It is no problem, I try to stay on top of things. There is always so much going on. :D

Hello Tracie. Greetings from Santa Ana, CA, USA. I bought the Power Sun for my 9 month 9 inch female Dracoa and another one for my 5 month 5 inch female Dracona about a week and a half ago. After just a few days, both were more active. Yesterday I started noticing Dracoa closing one eye, while Dracona hiding all together. This morning, Dracona ended up having both eyes close while Dracoa had there other eye close while the other one opened. The box i have i the newer one with the red beardie in front. Im so depressed seeing Dracona with both her eyes closed and Dracoa not happy at all. What mvb brand do you recommend i buy to replace these lights and what procedure do I go about getting a refund for both my PS 100s? Should I use a regular uva lamp until they recover or the ceramic bulbs? My poor little pastel yellow and sandy color gals x_x.
Thanks,
Geo

P.S. The bulbs were as you described too... in terms of coat and shape.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
