They are almost 5" but not 5" yet. they always have a full belly and they eat everyday (except for the one that was sick). now like I said distance has only been this way for 2days so that could not possibly be why they are not eating 50 crickets a piece. does anyone actually have a 4-5" bearded dragon that eats 50 a day?? they need to film this because the ones I have stomachs bulge out after eating 3-4 small crickets so i cant imagine it fitting another 47 in that belly the size of a nail head.

Well I dont have a video for you but I have had Phoenic since she was a hatchling just slightly bigger then yours and she has consistently eaten over 100 crix a day.Now thats more then most but even when drago was a baby he would down 40 easy. Its amazing how much they can actually pack away.As for the MVB it may be too much for 29 gallon which could really effect their eating so I would definately move it 18 inches away at least and get a second clamp lamp with a houseold bulb as Tracie said to create their basking temps. Also what size crix are you feeding them?

how do you post a pic on this forum??? once you see these things you will know that there is absolutely no way it could eat even 10 crickets a day. I am feeding the small crickets not pin heads and small wax worms. my beardies are the size of my finger for christ sakes. I put the basking log at a min 18 away. BTW 2 of the 3 have grown since I've had them so I know their diet is good as I've only had them for about a week the only one that hasnt noticeably grown is the sick one. Now gimme some tips on pic posting.

Ok the best way to post a pic is to create a free account with photobucket.com then you will upload the pics there. After you have done that you copy and past the IMG code thats under the pic and place it here in the comments just as you would any other comment. Its actually pretty easy.I am wondering if they might be better of with pinheads if there as small as you say they are they were probably way too young to be sold and may be having some trouble eating the 1/4 inch but I would love to see a pic first before I say that.

Ok good they came out. the lil one on my ring finger was the sick one and was the biggest one originally so you could see how much they have actually grown.

Yes thats what I thought they really are very tiny.I would go with no larger then 1/8 inch crix for those little guys. That could be part of the problem coupled with the relocation stress and that MVB issue that could cause the eating issues. Also are you bathing them? One more thing that concerns me you said you were having issues getting the temps right?I am a little confused about that because judging by the tank size, distance and wattage of the MVB I would have thought your temps would have been way over the top.How are you measuring them and where?

O.K, I am measuring with a zoo med digital thermometer with a wire and a lil probe at the end. the crickets i get are the small crickets you get at the petshop they are about half the size if not smaller than reg crickets. Now about the temp issue...I too thought it would be too much for my tank so in my infenite wisdom I bought a wire lamp fixture (also from zoo med) unfortunatly that let all the heat escape before it made it to the inside of the tank.....so I wrapped the damn thing with tin foil until my deep dome light fixture comes in but still not that good so I moved the basking branch up etc etc. i know it sounds crazy and trust me it looks even crazier but it seems to be holding now at 96.5 with x-tra tin foil arounf the wire fixture.

Ok good with the probe and the open fixture does expalin it a bit.As for the crix I am betting you have at least 1/4 inch crix thats what the big chain pet stores generally sell as smalls.Put it this way a full size crix is an inch or bigger if yours are 1/2 that then the are 1/2 inch if they are a little smaller then they are 1/4 inch. Here is a crix size chart that may help you figure out the size.Bottom line rule of thumb is the feeder insect cannot be any larger then the space between the beardies eyes.

Hello Juan,

How are your babies doing? Those pictures are so cute of them, they are tiny.
You would be surprised how much they will eat here real soon when you get it all fixed up for them & they are over their relocation stress.
How are the temps now, did you get the lights adjusted properly?
Let us know how things are going.

Hello Juan,

Well, right now, if he is not eating on his own you are going to have to assist feed him until he feels well enough to eat on his own. Otherwise he most likely will not make it.
He wont have to eat like this forever, but to get him through this rough patch right now, this is the best thing you can do for him. He wont get better if he doesn't get any nutrition into him.
I am glad he is still hanging in there. Keep us posted on him.

yep, will do. I gave him 2 more wax worms (small) mixed with dust and jumpstart so he is basking now. He is def. more active and he isnt rolling around anymore or doing that craxy tilt head thing. I wonder what the hell it was, things that make you go hmmm.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
