please help whats wrong with littles?!?!!?

ok so littles will sit in his cage lift up his leg and just tweak like shake it and then he will shake the back leg its like a twitch and its scary and he doesnt stop even if i pick him up i dont knw why please help!!!!!!!!

What brand and type of UVB are you using, is it a coil, compact or strip fluorescent? How close is the UVB to Littles? Also, how many times a wk are you using calcium and vitamin supplements? Does he look like he is about to shed?

ok umm he has one with uvb and heat in one ill have to find the box

and no hes not gonna shed i use the calcium 2-3 times a week and the vitimins about 4 times a week

Yes, please look up the info of the UVB, it sounds like it is a mercury vapor bulb, so important that we find out the brand & wattage & also how close you have the bulb placed over the basking area.

Since your beardie is only a baby, you should be using calcium 5 days a wk, 1 feeding a day & vitamins 2 days a wk, 1 feeding a day. If you do indeed have a MVB, then you would need the calcium without D3.

well ya he armwaves to his reflection on the glass then just twitches first his front legs then his back ones umm its about 11 1/2 inches from the basking spot and im still looking for the box sorry i know i didnt throw it away i think it might be undre my bed :shock: lol

My MVB has the name and wattage printed on the bottom of the bulb, so it would be a good idea for you to check there. Can you fill us in on the calcium and vitamin usage as that's very important too. Is Little's still twitching?

nope its not printed on there but yesterday i saw one or sale at the pet store the brand was t-rex and it just said uv and heat in one i didnt see the wattage though yes hes still twitching and sometimes he'ss curl up his hands like in the pic i posted and he'll walk on it like that it looks like it hurts

and he has all hs toes and i think someone droped him at the pet store cuz when i pick him up he grabs so tight on my fingers and doesnt let go

You said you saw a T-Rex MVB box in the petstore, did you mean that the box looked like the one that Little's bulb came in? The boxes do have the wattage on them because I have a T-Rex and in the upper right hand corner it says "100 watt". On the base of my T-Rex bulb, on the shiny part, it also says T-Rex 100 watt, so please check your bulb again. Perhaps you are just using a basking bulb which would mean that he isn't getting UV rays, so it's very important that we find out. You also need to take a yardstick, ruler or tape measure and let us no the distance that the bulb is from him when he is basking, that's very important too.

Also, how many times a wk are you using calcium and vitamins?

Most beardies do this even adults, usually means they want to be held. How long have you had Littles?

ok i looked again at the bulb its 150 watts and the holder says no more that 60 watts in it so i took out that bilb and just have a huose bulb in right now ill have to buy another holder or somthing im going back to the pet store today so ill look oh and i answered the question on the calcium and the one on how far away it was already

i got littles on halloween and yes he loves to be held if i pick him up in his cage and dont even lift him uot of his cage he grabs me and wont let go i guess he just likes me lol

You know what UV bulb you should have for your dragon, but did you seriously go out and buy another dragon and not having anyhting ready.

This is not the first time it has happened.

Ok sweetie I am confused do you have an MVB bulb?You say it doesnt have anything on the bulb?Then its not a uvb or mvb.The one you saw in the store was it a TRex Active Heat?Thats an MVB,is that what you think you have?Did you buy it?How much did it cost?I am thinking you dont have one even if it was in the MVB box its possible someone switched it out and returned it then you bought it thinking it was an MVB.Whenever you buy a new bulb you have to check the actuall bulb otherwise you will never be sure of what you actually bought.This would explain the twitching also.

Thanks for answering that question, but I responded back to let you know that you aren't giving the right amounts of calcium and vitamins. Here's what I wrote:

So, you need to give the calcium more often and the vitamins less often. The correct dosage of each is very important for babies.

You mentioned that the bulb is "about 11 1/2 inches from the basking spot" but we need you to measure the distance so we know exactly, if it is a mercury vapor bulb and it is too close, that is very dangerous, especially for a baby as small as yours.

I know that MVB's come in 100, 125 and 160 watt, I'm not sure if any come in 150 watts though. Did you look on the base of the bulb, the shiny part, to see if there is a brand name printed there?

Did you go back to the petstore to get a holder for a higher wattage bulb or perhaps a new bulb? If you could take a picture of the top of the bulb and another of the base, that may help us out. This really is very important because if you don't have a bulb with UVB in it, his twitching could very well be from metabolic bone disease and none of us what that to happen, so please try and get us all the info you can so we can help your little guy.
