Hey everyone, I'm brand new to the site and I'm a noob to reptile husbandry but I've done a fair amount of research already (I've been interested in Beardies for about 2 or 3 years now). I'm extremely sorry if this question has been asked already but I gave a quick search and couldn't find much related to my question.
Currently I am looking to purchase a Bearded Dragon but my budget for the start-up isn't the highest. I am looking to buy an adult dragon so that it is relatively easier to care for in terms of feeding and impaction (Cricket size etc.). However, I cannot seem to find a 40 + gallon tank to fit my budget. I don't care about appearance. So, when I saw one of those plastic Rubbermaid bins I became curious about whether these would be good.
( Similar to this, but about 50 gallons or 32x20.2x17.5 .
)
I was wondering if this would be acceptable? I have a screen from a 10 gallon tank that I could rest the heating lamp on and I could use the ridges built into the bin to rest the UVB lamp near the basking site (With this option, I'm worried the dragon could escape). Or I could cut holes in the lid of the bin and have the lights shine through there (So long as the plastic doesn't melt). I could probably cut out some cardboard to cover the ridgid bottom and then place newspaper overtop of that. Sorry for seeming like I don't care about the Dragon (I actually do, I care more the practical and safe use of the enclosure rather than having one that's visually pleasing. Saving money on the enclosure will leave me with more money for food, supplements, decorations and bulbs) Thanks
