I plan to feed my baby dragon phoenix worms as a staple. Is this ok? And since they are high in calcium and dont need to be dusted. How will my dragon get D3? :?
I am not a super pro like others on this site but here is my advice
Still dust your veggies with vitamins to make sure your little guy is getting all the nutrition he/she requires.
I tried Phoenix worms as a staple a while back and I found that my guys had a hard time digesting them fully, I would find undigested phoenix in their stool, so I went back to crickets as a staple and only fed the phoenix as a treat, this was only my personal experience and I'm sure others have had no problems what so ever with them.
Keep up dating I am interested to hear how things go, Oh and my dragons Loved phoenix worrms
So far he seems to be digesting well. I've been using them for the past week and was wondering if he could have em as a staple since he enjoys them so much. His leavings seem well formed and I havent seen any undigested worms. Thanks for the information
My baby loves them. I feed him crix in the morn dusted then PW for lunch, crix and PW for dinner. I use the reptiSun 10.0 tube so I still use the calcium w d3. I think if you use the MVB you don't need D3. So, is that the only thing you are feeding him? If so maybe you could dust the salad.
Chris, when using pw as feeders, you don't need to dust with calcium that day at all.
Only when feeding pw use the vits 1-2 times a week
Janie.
Also, for the poster that had issues with non digested pw, check your basking temps, if they were too low, then you would indeed see undigested feeders.
Ok, Thanks for clarifying that Janie. I appreciate it. I only use calcium 3X a week now and vit 2X. Was worried about him not getting the D3. Can you just buy the D3???
