its not fair, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to start a roach colony I love them, but I can't get any, no one ships to canada :'( i don't mind the crickets but I would so sososososososo rather roachs :'(

If you live close to the US border and know someone in the northern US, you can have them shipped to the friend, then meet up with them here on the US side and I believe you can transport them over the border rather than shipping them. Check to see if this is allowed, or if they are completely banned, I don't think they are considered an invasive species in Canada (they couldn't survive outside there long enough to cause any problems). I remember someone else mentioning this same thing.

That is truly a bummer! Well, the next best option is a friend from the US coming there for a visit or a drive in trip and bringing them along. Again, it would depend on border/Canadian law concerning the trasnport of the species into your country.

I live in South Central Wisconsin, but am not planning any trips to Canada in the near future or I'd offer to bring them as long as it was legal to do so. I totally understand the dilemma with crickets, spent many years buying the smelly things! And although the big dubias creep me out, I am glad I started this colony. They have been the best feeder and well worth the initial cost! Keep looking for someone there who might be selling them. Maybe you'll get lucky and find a vendor in Canada and that would solve your problem.

I hand feed them too, with TWEEZERS! I am a master at catching and holding dubias with my tweezers! I got really good with them when dealing with Supres, got tired of those damn worms biting me! And no, dubias don't bite.

ahhah, well any form of roach scares me lol. A few years ago, i was at work and there was a roach that crawled up my pant leg, so you can imagine how terrified i was to look in to my lap and see this big crunchy bug lol. and it turns out behind a drawer there was a ton of them.... really... they were everywehre. The only reason we figured that out was because i stood up to shake him off my lap and thats where he went, i called out pest control guys out and showed them where he was hiding and the SECOND they moved that drawer ..... dun dun dun..... so many came running out from behind it... it was gross!! lol

Well i can now pick them up without screeming, so its progress i think! Its just their sticky legs that get me, im soo used to supers biting me i automatically flinch! I went through the box gave it a good clean and got rid of the big ones, they seem harmless enough but your right it does take a while, not like crix or locusts! Its real love when you can pick up a roach for your scaley ones!

Lol! I dont think she is digesting them properly! I gave her the six, and she hasn't gone poopy since! But she is still happy and basking and eating other food so im not panicking yet, although we are on poop watch!

it takes a short while (a poo or 2) for their digestive system to get used to it, but once they're ready, theyre really ready.
