Norbert's day to day *Pic Heavy!*

Ive been wanting to make a thread for Norbert for a while now, so here it goes! This is Norbert's day to day life, his milestones, and just when I think he's being too gosh darn cute! :love5:

I think Ill start from the beginning. Norbert hatched in mid to late February and is from Daichu. He is around 4 months old now, and has been nothing short of the perfect dragon! He's put up with me obsessing over ever detail of his viv, inspecting him over and over many times a day, and just being over all paranoid. He is my first dragon, and Im a very proud slave!

This is Norbert the very first day I had him, right after I put him in his first viv:

After I moved him into his current 40 gallon breeder...He seemed MUCH happier!

Well, thats my summary of Norbert's life so far! I hope you enjoyed seeing his growth, and will follow his life with me here as it happens.

Took Norbert to the vet today for a pre-brumation check up, and I'm happy to say he's in perfect health! The vet said I'm doing a really good job and everything about him looks great. He even mentioned that he had good "muscle structure". Really made my day!

That's great news! Nothings better then hearing your baby is healthy. (Even though you already knew you were doing a great job! :wink: )

LOL you're right, I knew my husbandry was fine, but the vet was surprised by the variety of bugs I offer Norbert. :roll: I only took him because this is his first year going into brumation and I wanted to be 100% sure that it actually was brumation and not something else. It was actually really interesting, the vet showed me his windpipe and it almost looked like a forked tongue in the back of his throat that opened up when he breathed. And he also had his nails trimmed, so no more scratching me really bad. lol I think I got lucky with Norbert's vet, too. I've been hearing a lot of bad things about different reptile vets in my area, but I really like Norbert's. He seems to really know what he's talking about and he very gentle with him.

I'm so glad that Norbert got a clean bill of health! That will make things so much easier on you psychologically if/when he DOES decide to brumate or slow down - you won't be so worried that he's ill or something.

How big is he now? Did the vet weigh and measure him?

Yup, the vet measured him in ounces and he was 1 pound 2 ounces, but I weigh in grams and he's 515g and 19 inches long.

And I swear the vet thinks I'm crazy! He was just in about 5 months ago and was perfectly healthy then too. I'm just so paranoid all the time I can't help but take him for my own piece of mind. I'm glad I did though, I definitely feel much better now about his recent "slow down".

I know!! When I first got him I really hoped I'd have a big boy. Looks like I'm getting my wish. It's funny, people always say how big he looks/is, but sometimes I don't see it. He still seems small to me! lol

Wasn't Myah having a problem with parasites? Or am I thinking of someone else? Could that be why she's a little on the smaller side? Not that it matters, she's adorable!!

LOL! :lol: Thank you and yes. Myah had coccidia but her small size may be due to the care she had with her 1st family. She wasn't given near the protein she needed to grow. She has almost doubled in size since I brought her home at 1yr old!

Doubling in size after she was already a year old is fantastic!! Do you have any pictures of when you first got her compared to her now? It would be interesting to see the difference.
