Nim's Story - More videos and pictures.

Hi, I am the slave of six cockatiels and my new dragon Nim. I'm creating this thread to share all the cute things my little Nim does. Ive had him for eleven days now and he likes me. He warmed up to me six days after I got him. He is the smartest lizard I have ever owned. I would post pics but I'm having some trouble. I put a photo on Flickr and then do the image thing but it only flashes the pic then it disappears if anyone could help I would like that. Nim is a six inch ten gram bearded dragon. Who's favorite veggie is dandelion greens. I have an organic lawn so I get the dandelion greens from there.

LOL, got it. The wax did sound a little weird. But what a good idea. I was thinking of making a sort of ladder thing, like those that you see at pet stores for birds. The cloth would be a good idea, but if he poops on it I would need to wash and bake it. I may do that anyways just to keep his viv clean. I'll try both ideas tomorrow, using prototype logs and see which would be the best. I'll let you all know which one would look best in his viv. And what would fit best. Thanks for the idea.

Yes,you can definitely tell he is very loved.Just look at that cute lil face look at you with love .

Aww thanks. Yes, I try to pour all my love on all my pets. Even the ratty green cheek who gave me another bite. I know Oosy does it in play, and they do heal quickly. So I can't hold it against him. Yes, Skymall, he is a very brave lizard. He loves to climb, but it seems like only in his cage or house. LOL, one time I stuck him onto a tree outside and he just hung there. Boring! Thanks Lara, yes he does look at me with great love. Especially when I kiss him on the snout. He looks and me and I can swear he is smiling. Like, "Hi mommy, I love you too." He actually did lick me on the lips once. And I am very creative. I try to make as much as I can for my pets. But the birds only like chew toys. So they don't last long. Plus, since we don't have much money to buy stuff for Nim, what better way to show my love than make something. Not saying you love Nero less of course. We all have different ways of showing love to our beardies.

I show my love by giving food :laughing6: .I kinda don't really have the time to make anything right now,or the creativity for that
matter .I think i'm gonna make Nero a hide sometime,he currently doesn't have one.He used to like to lay in his old one till he got to
big for it.
I once made a little chain made out of those little tabs on top of soda cans,paper clips,and chain for our tiels .But they kinda tore it
apart within a few minutes.I ran out of ideas for toys to make for them. :?

Yep, that's what cockatiels do. Chew things apart in minutes. That is why I never buy bird toys. I look at the price and I'm like, "what? That much for something that is going to keep them busy for a day? I can make something cheaper." LOL, I really do think like that at times. Oh yeah, food is a good way to show love. It's too expensive for us though, LOL. I did have a old hide for Nim when I got him. I used it for the leos. I think the entrance was too small for him anyways. But I don't think Nim is a 'hide' beardie. I think he's a type who would love crazy vines to climb on like a gecko. LOL, it is true. He always is leaping from place to place and trying his hardest to climb on our wood like walls. I think he wishes he has wings, LOL.

Yes those bird toys at the store are way to expensive.I made a bird ladder before,it didn't last long :lol: .
I do think it is fun to make something yourself also,it also makes you feel happy inside.
I did try to spoil Nero before with all these fancy worms like Silkworms,Butterworms,waxworms,and Phoenix worms.He barely ate any of them :shock: .I didn't tell my mom because she would have gotten angry.I do know that he likes waxworms and phoenix worms now but i don't
know about silks or butters.I would like to try them again.

The longest tiel toy that is still there is a silicone type thing. They only have chewed the things off, not the strings themselves.
I'm hoping we have money to buy foods like that soon. Fancy foods. I have a feeling he'll love them because that is exactly how he is. Bug CRAZY! I wonder if bugs can be shipped over the winter. LOL, Nim's Christmas stocking full of yummy bugs! Or he could have bugs on his 'anniversary'. That is what I'll call the day I got him. 'Cause I don't know a hatch date. So we can have a celebration of the day we first met, LOL. I remember how much he loved wax worms. I stopped giving them to him though, because the weight gain from those things was like overnight! Just scary, I try to avoid those bugs now.

So you got Old Man from a breeder? How nice. The only pet I know we got from a breeder is Cookie. All the others were from a pet store. So we never knew their birthdates. But that doesn't mean they should go without one. So we usually chose the day we got them. It works, although I would love to know the hatchdate of my Nim. But I don't mind.

Well, I'm here to post a few things before I go back on my hiatus from Nim's Thread. I would like to take a longer one, but people follow this thread and and they are probably wondering how my Nim is doing. Well, he is doing fine. He poops regularly, but they still smell. I also have been working on his new 20 gallon decor. I decided to do the ladder like thing, instead of the cloth cover for the nails. That didn't work or look good. I washed and baked the rocks I found. During this I was like, "what the heck, Nim needs a clean cage whether 10 or 20." So I threw away the gross repti carpet and put in some paper towels. Dang, it is so freaking white in there now. But at least it is clean. He has usually been pooping in his dinner food dish. I guess he decided to do something different. Because I saw a big poop on his paper towels. So I removed all the items and paper towel, wiped where the poop was and put new paper towel in along with the decor. Now he is back to basking before our snuggles.

Now, you all know Halloween is just on the corner. I already said that PetSmart had their's freaking early. Well, I think I already said that PetLife is having one soon. Maybe I didn't. Anyways, I made a Dimetrodon costume for him. It is adorable, but it needs a few more finishing touches. Then I'll make a whole new thread in 'Beardie Tales' for it. It is a harness style thing and i thought he would hate it. But he acts like it isn't there. I thought beardies hated harnesses. Maybe it is because the first time I had him out I gave him a harness of floss. I guess I harness trained him from a young age. Good news because I'll buy a harness once he stops growing. Or probably for Christmas. He seems to have stopped growing in length no. But he is getting more in width. His head is larger and more triangular and his gut is nice and big. He is peeling on his face now. It is all coming off and he looks miserable. Shedding really must be hard.

Mom has a cold and it hasn't got better because she hasn't rested much. Now I think she gave it to me because my throat doesn't feel good. Of course I'll deny it. I am right now. I guess I should finish this up now. I need to pack a over night bag. Why? Because I am staying at my sister's tomorrow. Day and night. i'll be coming back home Sunday. Nim is coming with me because tomorrow is the pet costume contest. So this will be the second time he stays at my 18 year old sister's place. I have never told anyone this before, but the first 3 days I had Nim I was over at my sister's. So I hope he remembers. Of course we are leaving early so Nim will be asleep in my jacket during the drive there. I probably won't be on this site tomorrow. Maybe, but from my sister's computer. I guess I better go pack Nim's and mine's over night bags.

Actually a friend of mine was breeding his dragons. His hobby was to breed animals he had knowledge of like dogs, cats, dragons and birds...it almost seemed like he had no time for school but he did well not once did I hear his animals die. For 16 he was
doing good between school and baby/pregnant animals in his home. Vash was from the first clutch of babies born April 15th.
So he's turning 9 soon.

Nim is looking good .
I also will use the day I got Nero(Which was January 5) as his B-Day.I haven't once forgot that day yet,i am a good rememberer .
I remember when I got him and he was a little 5 inch tiny little dragon,know he is 17 inches and A LOT BIGGER,barely fits in my hand.
Of course I still have baby hands that are pretty small compared to an adults.
How big was Nimmy when you got him?When did you get him?
