Hi, I am the slave of six cockatiels and my new dragon Nim. I'm creating this thread to share all the cute things my little Nim does. Ive had him for eleven days now and he likes me. He warmed up to me six days after I got him. He is the smartest lizard I have ever owned. I would post pics but I'm having some trouble. I put a photo on Flickr and then do the image thing but it only flashes the pic then it disappears if anyone could help I would like that. Nim is a six inch ten gram bearded dragon. Who's favorite veggie is dandelion greens. I have an organic lawn so I get the dandelion greens from there.

Well, the bark is gone. But yeah, there is nothing that he would want to ingest in his cage that can impact him. I hope Nim has a small temper. He just seems so docile that it's boring, LOL. He doesn't puff or black beard at anything. I guess it's good I got a good tempered dragon. :D But Nim will probably poop tomorrow. Still need to find good baby food. Mom got some but it has flour in it. I don't trust that. So I've got to chose baby food. And since I have been hearing so much good about prune baby food I'll probably get that.

Oh man! Vash loves that one! It's so great, he eats like no tomorrow, that's when I make my move and stick
greens in it, he never suspects a thing.

Today has been a good day. Nim pooped, he peeled all of his shed off but his tail and he is growing. He will also be moving to the 20 gallon this Friday. Yay! :D :blob8: And I'm thinking of giving him 14 canned crickets a day instead of the 12. 12 doesn't seem to satisfy him now. He always glass dances after eating. He didn't a week or two ago. He sure has plumped up though, which is good because the canned crickets are running low again. Oops. We'll buy two cans this Friday. If we can afford it. Because this Friday we have to buy the concert tickets. Because the next Friday is the concert itself. We can afford him to move to the 20 gallon. All he needs that will cost is, a new UVB light fixture, a higher watt basking light (which is going to be a regular house bulb), and paper towels as the substrate. I will probably need to get more logs and rocks. Those very plentiful in my yard though. :D He will also be tried with new types of greens. The dandelion greens will be dead soon. And I want to see what else he can eat before the dandelion greens die. So I am very happy today. No nightmares about Nim tonight. :D

One thing I am not happy about though. I forgot to remember that the tiels need seed. So they have been out for a few days now. :banghead: I'm so stupid. They aren't going fully hungry though, we have human foods that they will eat. Like bread and other food. Our bread is whole wheat bread BTW. And they always handle it fine. :D

Have you tried Armstrong crickets? I can get about 500 from them for about 45$. Most of that is the shipping. It might last a bit longer. I didn't realize how expensive feeding is. My brother and I are going to start switching off each month.

Glad to hear Nim is growing so well =) He's such a cute little bean (or rather big bean). :D Also, the aquarium pics are so cool!

Nimmy appreciates the complements. I have booked marked Ghann's crickets and they seem to have a good deal. I'll check out Armstong and see which is better. :D I kind of knew how much Nim would cost in food, but mom didn't. And I didn't know there were cockroaches that could be fed to beardies. But, that is in the past. I counted how long I've had Nim and I've had him for 4 months and 11 days. :D And since he was a month old when I got him, he is 5 months old. There is no giving him up. Once I bought him I would keep him no matter what. And when you buy a pet PetSmart gives you the 'vet guarantee'. Which means if your pet gets sick in 14 days of purchase you can return it for them to take it to the vet. But that was just a piece of paper to me. I might as well thrown it away. Because I knew that once I bought Nim we would never part. And it will always stay that way. And even with all this food problems he is growing like a weed and is healthy. Except for a chance that he has a small count of pinworms. Which is still unknown. I guess that's it for now. The only Nim news is that he is warming up under his light. That's just about it. And I think I ranted enough. :D

That is how I feel about their 14 day deal too. =) might as well throw it away. You've almost had Nim for half a year! Half a year party! :blob8:

That would be cute. Like some sort of anniversary. :D It is kind of surprising how long I've had Nim. He has grown so big too. He is probably somewhere around 16 inches now. He was 6 inches when I got him. So he has grown 10 inches from the day I got him. Wow, that is huge growth. :D And good news, we are going to buy roaches this Friday. Yay! :D Mom doesn't like that Nim has been lving on canned crickets. The canned crickets were to be backup, but they have turned into a staple. He has been eating them for about a month now, it's time to go back to live food. Nim hasn't done a poopy yet, but it is bathday. And only 6:00, he tends to poop a little later than that. And he isn't creaky anymore now that I've upped the calcium to the 1 feeding for 5 days. I guess his growth made him need more calcium. And I don't think he needs a checkup at the vet. Someone on here said he looks very healthy. So I'll just send in a poop sample to Cheryl at BD.co. That is all the updates I have for now. :D

*sigh* Yet another no poopy day. This seems to be turning into a pattern. He poops every other day. Very strange. He is half peeling on his tail and his lips are fading too. He is snuggled up on me right now, and he hasn't pooped a bit. I will get prune baby food Friday hopefully. Then on the no poop days I give it to him. Should go straight through, LOL. :D Tomorrow I will be getting up crazy early. Because my brother is going to the Navy tomorrow. Yep, it's finally that time. I won't see him again till Christmas. But I will be back in time for Nim tomorrow. I guess that's all to post. :D

I saw your post about Nim digging in his bath. Geico does the same thing so gave him a small container of raw flax seed in his tank..he digs in it and makes a mess but its harmless if they ingest it. I dont give it to him often but when I do he goes to town in it digging. Afterwards have to put him in a big tub and vacumn out his viv of flax seed lol.

Someone replied excellently on my post about Nim's bath behavior. But I think my baby would just love to play in a dig box anyway. It won't be able to fit in his 10 gallon, but since that tiny tank is leaving, I'll work out some sort of dig box. Thanks! :D

Well, Nim isn't happy with me. So, today was the day my brother left for boot camp in Chicago. That meant we had to get up early, my parents, my 18 year old sister and I were there. My other sisters could not make it. But he did call one at the airport. Anyways, we stayed until we watched the plane take off, which was around 2:30 PM. Then we ran some errands and other stuff. Now, Nim's usual time the lights turn on is 2:00 PM. We weren't home at that time. And we don't have a timer yet. Long story short, we came home at 6:30 and that is when I turned on Nim's lights. I have a unhappy lizard now. We did get two more cans of crickets. That should hold us until we order the roaches. He'll be fine though. Just a late breakfast. Now, the excuse I tell him is, 'it was overcast.' LOL, it is rainy and overcast here. :D

UPDATE: Okay, Nim pooped. It didn't look good and made me gag. But it could be because it was in his bowels for a day. Nim now want his late breakfast. :D

ahahhahaa I love you telling him that today was overcast! Hey! He got to sleep in. Silly lizard. Mine also likes to dig, but only before bedtime. She looks for a place to make into a bed. It's pretty cute.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
