UVB's dont emit heat you need to have a separate flood light for their UVA rays aka heat. I have a 40 gallon tank with a 36" tube going the length of the cage and a 60 watt flood light in her basking spot which gives her 102F basking temp and 87F on the cool side.
no it isn't uncomfortable for them. My girl loves her tile she spends most of her time down there. you dont have to keep the heat on during the night unless your tank gets below 65F then you use a ceramic heater and it wont effect the tile. I have black slate tile and it stays medium temp always.
im from ireland like and gets cold during the nite at winter like u get me ??? think ill use the repti sand the light stuff like because ill need the heat mat?? is the light thing ok in my viv do its nicelly set up i think the beardie is a month old like

Sand is no good especially for a baby beardie. I live in Canada so I understand the cold thing. I use a ceramic heater which stays on 24/7 to keeps the temeratures up. Below is a link to what a ceramic heat emitter (EMT) looks like. If tile is too much work right now you can use reptile carpet, or paper towel. Just make sure to clean it everytime your beardie poops.
It is not recommended to use a heat mat because it can burn the beardies tummy. They do not have feelers on their tummy like they do on their backs, so they cannot feel it if they are burning.
You should have a reptisun 10 tube UVB that will fit across the length of your viv. The UVA can be just a household flood light I use a 60 watt you can get those at any hardware store - walmart etc. To measure the temperatures the best way to do this and the cheapest is a probe thermometer. Below is a picture of what one looks like.
You are welcome! We all need help at one time and I was asking questions like you 3 years ago when I got my 1st beardie. No question is a stupid question. Any more questions just ask.
where ever you want to check the temp. I have mine stationed in the basking area because I am in a cold cliamte so the temps go up and down. I will put it over the cold spot every now and again to make sure it is still okay. Are you going to remove your coil reptisun 5 bulb for a reptisun 10 tube? and do you have a UVA heating lamp?
the 10 is better because it emits more efficient UVB and it is a tube so will not affect your beardies eyes. The coil bulb will damage your beardies eyes. The coil is bad for your beardies health.
