im really curious if these will be ok to feed to my beardie... They're so cheap and seem ok, the only problem i see is maybe the fat content. But im not sure what exactly is considered high fat. Does anyone know if these would be ok or have used them?

They have higher protein then listed due to the fact that that strain has been in captivity for so long 8) . When a couple of my forum-mates from geckoforums.net found that out through pms.

DANG those are cheap!!! They look similar in nutrition to black soldier fly larvae. Kinda annoying that you almost need a beer/wine fridge to keep them at their optimal temp.

How big are they roughly as I don't see different sizes (as in comparison to black soldier fly larave) so how many would you need to feed? Are they safe and could be a staple?

i want these to work so bad! they seem ok, fat isn't even that bad, the only thing i'd be worried about is the phosphorous, but you can always even it out with dusting them, i think... i hope

you know what, im getting them! they have over 2% less fat than phoenix/reptiworms. the only possible down sides are that the fly larvae have slightly less protein, and less calcium. But the calcium can be added by dusting. So the only downside i see is just the slight lack of protein, but its only 1.72% less protein with phoenix/reptiworms with 17.3% and fly larvae with 15.58%. I guess i'll let you all know how it goes in a few days :D

Just double checked the nutritional info..compared to black soldier fly larvae they are still really low in calcium so it looks like you would need a calcium supplement still, but even at that price...dang. I'd like to hear more about them tho.

Im right with you. It seems too good to be true huh :) i guess they are just regular maggots... but im not completely sure. I guess if a beardie came across a dead animal with maggots on it on the wild it would be a buffet. Thats how im trying to look at it... but i know thats not always the best way. I just wish that someone with experience would answer. It all seems so perfect. all you'd need to do is dust them, which is no problem. All of us here are pro dusters anyway haha

Let us know for sure! Especially on the size....

Also it's nice to know that you can use your regular home fridge for these (since most fridges are around 30-40 degrees) instead of having to buy a special "beer/wine" fridge for black soldier fly larvae that need 50-65 degrees if you want to expand their shelf life longer than the room temp of 3 weeks.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
