Hi, my name is Julie and I am the proud owner of 4 new beardies of 1month, 2 months and 7 months old. I live in Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape of South Africa and would love to get into contact with other beardie owners in this region.

Thank you guys. you really make me feel welcome. can anyone tell me how much a baby beardie eats? Kink, my 7month old young lady eats very well...veggies and her insects. the three babies ( 2 of 2months and one of a month old) does not want to take any greens and will take the occasional mealworm. The people i got them from raised them so far on mealworms (i know it is not the best diet}and it is a battle to get them to eat anything else. They seem healthy and very allert. and the poo seems ok and regular.

NO MEALWORMS! they have WAYYY to much bone than they do actual meat. so no more of those. Crickets are really good for them. Also, if you want to be "exotic" you can feed dubia roaches. i personally feed crickets, i but about 1,000 at a time and it'll last me a lonnnng time. i store them in a 20 glalon tank, you can use smaller, and provide gutload and the stems of the veggies you give to your bearded dragons.

As far as amount, it really varies. You want to keep giving them crickets until they are done. It all depends on the mood or if they're full. Sometimes, mine will go a day without eating any if he had too many the day before. To switch them over, just only offer crickets. Eventually, they will get hungry and just want to eat the crickets.

As far as greens go, the 3 younger ones probably wont be eating alot. But keep offering it, so they get used to its presence in the tank. If you want to encourage them to eat it, try squirting it with grape juice, just take a grape and squeeze it onto the salad. Beardies love grapes and the swee tsmell will attract them. It should work.

Good luck with everything and don't be afraid to ask questions! we are here to help!

thank you so much. i have now started to introduce the babies to 1/4 size crickets and they will only take one at a time, somtimes they refuse and then they will take the mealworms. I pick the mealworms that have just shredded a skin and are still white and soft. as i say they have been raised in the mealworms and i will slowly do away with them.

okay, try your best ot get them off the meal worms. if you want, you can give them supers to act like meal worms because they are better then the meal worm, but not better than crickets. so i would switch to supers while you are ridding them of meal worms.

She's describing dragons that are 2 and 1 months old, i'm guessing that they are not over 16 inches in length. remmeber, You can not feed supers to dragons that are not over 16 inches. :D

Baby bearded dragons are hard work and take ALOT of dedication. You mention that you have 2 two month olds and 1 one month old. let me tell you that these little guys will be eating you out of house and homd haha :D

When bearded dragons are young you need to set up a feeding schedule. You will need to have three seperate feedings a day. In each feeding you should allow your dragon to eat as much as he/she can within a ten minute period. When your dragons get comfortable and out of their relocationstress .. they will be eating ALOT, trust me. A bearded dragon of 1-2 months like you have can easily eat 60+ crickets a day. :D their little piggys

My sincere thanks to everyone. Seems like beardies have a will and an appetite of their own. I have tried sum baby dubias on the little ones. At first they were scared of them but then each of them took two. the smallest one just finished shedding and it looks as if the other two are not far off. Could that be perhaps why they are not eating as well as the big one. She's got a huge appetite and i am sure if i dump a whole sheep in her viv she will have a go at it. thanks again guys. Beardie love to you all

that could be, i'm beginning to notice that my 11 month old eats A LOT right before a shed, and doesn't eat much during. it's stressful for them. as long as they start eating after the shed, i wouldn't worry!

MY SUSPITION WERE RIGHT. BABY SPIKE LOOKS LIKE A REAL "HOBO DRAGON" THIS MORNING. I GAVE HIM AND THE OTHERS A NICE LONG LUKEWARM SOAKING AND ALL THE LOOSE SKIN CAME OFF. HE IS SO BEAUTIFUL NOW. THINK THE OTHERS ARE ALSO CLOSE TO SHEDDING.FROM NOW ON I WILL POST UNDER GENERAL DISCUSSIONS. HOPE MY BEARDIES WILL START EARING A LOT FROM NOW ON

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
