New Addition Juuji

Okay so on friday I will paying for my newest addition to the family, so i thought I should make her a thread too!
Her name is Juuji, she is currently 14 inches long and 89 grams. She was hatched on March 9, 2010. She is a german giant from Rio Reptiles- Cheryl... *Thank you for everything Cheryl* I cant wait to see her! I am trying to get the day off for that day so i can be home when she arrives, if not she will have to come to the vet clinic where i work... (not a big deal but probably not as comfy as her new home) I'm so excited that i may come out of my skin!!! ahhhh!!!!
Anyways... enough jabber... here is a pic that Cheryl sent me.... She will probably be a patternless adult!!

Diane, he is so gentle with her!! its very sweet, but she is definatly the sturdy one lol!! Take a look at these... Yesterday was her FIRST play day...
thank you Elijah! I got that baby blanket at the dollar store! i couldnt leave it!! it was pretty and its sooo soft!

I find it so funny that BOTH my dragons like the dog kennel...

Yesterday she ate a good chuck of her salad: collars, kale, mustard, squash topped with some dragon bites and when i got home she ate 3 good sized roaches... even with me choosing the smallest i could find she had to work at them for a minute... needless to say after eating and running she got sleepy / cold pretty quick...

She had snuggled down next to the roach bin...

okay so i have a few pics for you guys... this was Juuji's first bath time... She wasnt too fond of it lol!
I have a video too but i'll have to get home to upload that one lol... First I think my scale is off. i weighed her and it said 75 grams... but Cheryls says 94... so i'm not sure :?: its a postage stamp scale so i'm not too sure... she is right at 14 inches, but very slender.. that will all change very soon :wink: She ate 3 smaller roaches for me yesterday and the day before that too... she hasnt had any relocation stress that i can tell, she never stopped eating and no stress marks on that sweet creamy belly!!
well enough jabber... here we go!!

I thought the sink would be best for the first bath... maybe i'll do the tub next, she is quite the jumper she can jump a good AT LEAST 6 inches .... look at this.

She's so cute, and I bet you will have her plumped up in no time!! Is she eating 2 or 3 times per day??

she wont eat for me that much... the hubby tries to feed her when hes home but shes not having that.. so we load up her salad... i hope thats okay for her... i've checked and recheked my temps and all is going well, shes bright eyed and ready to roll so I guess when shes hungry she'll eat them...
oh question... if i pick out a few smaller roaches... 2 or 3 since that seems to be her limit, when my hubby gets up could he put them in her tank to allow her to eat as she pleases? that way she is getting something during the day? i will have to take her blanket out because they will hide in it and then she'll never find them.. but would that be okay since she will be awake? she gets cold easy I assume because shes little, so she doest stray too far from her light even though the coldest is 85 and thats on the far end of her tank...
what do you think?

im kind of curious about this too, jor... i know crickets will munch on the beardie if they're hungry -- but will dubia? could i just drop some dubia in the viv and be done with the buggies for the day? there'll be food in there for the roachies (salad) so i doubt they'd be hungry enough to eat the beardie. as long as theres no real good place for them to hide from the light, is it safe? good q palo!

I wouldn't drop them in to roam, I leave bugs in a ceramic dish during the day for Delila because that's what she's used to...I hand feed all of the other spoiled brats!! I'm sure that she's just settling in, in might be a week or so but I would hope that she starts eating more for you...

I'm afraid if i put them in something she wont be able to get to them and shes very small so i'm thinking that she cant eat more than 3 of htem at a time anyways... but when i get home in teh evening she will eat what i offer... i honestly thinks its hard for her to keep warm is what i think... she is so small... and i remeber when phoenix was smaller it was harder for him too and i link it to the warmth thing but if yall dont think its a good idea then idk what to do... i wouldnt want them to bother her...

I honestly don't know if Dubia would start nibbling on her or not, maybe someone else could answer that...You could always PM Ian from the Roach Ranch! Have you tried Phoenix worms for Juuji yet?? I don't feed them to my adults because the worms are so small it would take a bucket full to fill them up LOL but I plan on getting some for my new baby too.

i have offered phoenix worms... i got the "look" she was like umm... i want my ROACHES! lol... she was almost frowning ... i got the roaches out and she immediatly brightened up and was pretty much smiling at me... i offered it to her in my hand, on a top, in her salad, every way i can think she will eat around it lol! Great idea about PMing tom kat... i'll do that.. oh btw.. you dont mind me calling you Kat do you? lol

HA! She's a young woman that knows what she wants!!!! Have you tried hornworms yet?? Mine go insane for them!!! I actually have a shipment of those that will arrive today to, right in time for my new baby! I'll try and stuff him today just in case he has some relocation stress...And you can call me Kat, lots of people do!!

phoenix is completly agianst worms so nope havent tried those yet... maybe i'll order a small shipement of them and see... oh yes she definatly knows what she wants lol and has no problem telling you! lol :mrgreen:

i emailed the roach guy so as soon as he gets time to respond i'll let you know what i find out!!
