We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

So here are a few pics, he's a yellow & dark gray, light gray colour.

Under the communal power sun in the living room:

Discovering there are girls in those tanks up above, he has a great black beard for such a skinny boy:

On the couch, he's got a pretty diamond pattern on his back:

Hope you enjoy

Aww, sorry about Mr Treefrog Man (again not making fun of him)! I always loved how he looked even if it was medical I accepted him. I love my godson. Glad he's not in pain, cancer/tumors suck, I hated to lose my gerbil to one. I know and understand how it feels even though my case was not a dragon but a gerbil. Im also glad you're at peace and he had a good life with you. No rush at all but Im curious, are you going to get another young dragon?

Again sorry about him he was such a cutie and a sweetie.

I'm thinking about it. But there's no rush!
Thanks Kami, I still miss him alot, but we spent so much time together since he got sick, I was glad I did that & was with him when he died. I think that's what helped me find peace with losing him,

I'm so sad to hear that you had to part with him Deb. I'm positive he knew how much he was loved and that the last five years were the best in his life.

Awww, thanks, he spent the last 6 weeks snuggling so he sure got lots of love. He's at peace now and that's what's important.

Hugs from Betty and Smaugie here in WIsconsin. I have been following your thread for awhile and was so heartbroken to see that Leo had passed. We sure do get attached to these little guys. My beardie just turned 1 yr and I already know that someday I'll have to say good bye to him. Praying that's a long way off. Makes me cry just thinking about it. Rest in peace Leo, you were loved much.

Hi Betty & Smaugle, thanks for checking in. Thanks for you well wishes, I know Leo is at peace now, he was so sick. But I had 5 good years with him before all this happened. I miss him alot, I'm just glad I snuggled him as much as I did before he passed.

Awww, thanks Diane, I buried him today, that was sad, but I'm holding up, I've been going through his pictures and found my favourite:

There were alot of others that I liked. I might just do a memorial here instead of in the memorial topic, I'll get to it later this week. I'm just glad he's at peace and not in pain anymore. Having a black beard for 6 weeks, he was definitely in pain, poor sweetie.

Hi Mary, you must be mistaken, Zak 'n Wheezie are alive and well and will be 9 in June. It's my dragon Leo that passed away from a large tumour in his abdomen.

Oh, sorry Mary. yes, Leo had a 6 week fight with a tumour that just grew and grew and when I realized he wasn't going to survive it, and he wasn't breathing well, I knew it was his time. Sorry about my misunderstanding...and thanks for posting.

I am just now able to catch up. I am so sorry to hear you lost your beloved Leo. I know how hard it is to lose one of our babies. He knew you loved him and you are such a good mom to all your babies. He will be with you in your heart forever and is waiting for you when the time comes Now he is running and playing with all his siblings having a good old time.

With your two, too, Tonja. I know he's in a better place, that tumour was growing by leaps and bounds and having babies, too. So I slept with him the night before I took him to the vet and stayed with him the whole time, so I feel good about that at least.

I did take a few pictures last week. Here is Bunny checking herself out in the mirror in the bathroom:

And Gabriel and Castiel, waiting for their baths, for some reason they don't try to fight if they're on the counter in the kitchen or on me, it's really strange, but nice :D

And caught Gabriel sleeping on his basking platform until someone who I'd send it to pointed out that in his reflection, his left eye was open

It's been just over a week since I lost Leo and I hate to see that empty tank. I checked with the rescue about this 1 yr old dragon named Pepsi, but he was already adopted. They had 2 females but I don't want any more issues with eggs, so asked them to let me know if they get another young male in. I'll wait until the right dragon present himself before I'll bring another home...
