Nathaniel, Cierra, Castiel, Freya, Grrl; RIP GABRIEL

We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

Leo's still holding his own, gave him a swim bath but he didn't swim much, then me moved around on the counter alot. Got a snuggle in before had to get my act together & get ready to get to my sister's. So he's doing ok, sleepy still, but alert in the am & takes his meds really well. Starting tomorrow not going out much, so will have lots of snuggle time with him, then vet appt next Saturday. Probably have an xray and blood test to see if the meds are helping at all, as will be almost 3 weeks since he started them.

Eric and family stayed at my sister's until the end of the night.

That's a wonderful surprise and post-Christmas present! I'm so happy for you, Deb.

I hope that the vet visit for Leo will be a good one, that both the x-ray and blood tests will show that he's improving.

Pookie is doing really well, isn't he? I saw where he's eating really well & getting around, too. Way to go Pookie!

Pookie is doing very, very well. The fat pads on his head are filling in and almost looks normal again.
I weighed him yesterday and he's still over 650 grams. I have to check the vet papers to see what he weighed in at the last time he was there.

That's great Deb that you got to spend SO much time with your granchildren. Must have made you so happy & content.

Good to hear that Leo is taking his meds really well and that he quite active in the mornings. He must be feeling pretty good. Sure hope the test results show that things are getting better. He sure is trying hard and so are you.

Leo is definitely feeling a bit better, Diane, he fought taking his meds this am, even though I explained they were necessary so he let me open his mouth to get the syringe in. So I think that's a good sign, too. He got an hour sitting in front of the TV on the ramp, too, will do that every am. He deserves outside time, too.

Hope you're getting some good home time in, Diane, do you have to work tomorrow, 'cause I know you have Tuesdays off. Does this mean you worked yesterday? I heard there's snow back east in Canada, hopefully not at your end.

Poor guy, taking his meds but hating them. Good that he puts up a fight though. Bet he enjoys the ramp, good for him.

I actually was sick all last wk Deb. Knew I wasn't feeling good the wk before. Not this past Saturday but the wk before, I worked, went downhill when I got home with a high fever & acheyness. Went right to bed and all day Sunday. Called my MD on Monday, had bronchitis, ear infection, deep seated sinus infection. So tomorrow I go back to work. The reptiles will not be happy as I was here for 8 days straight. :roll: We will get the death glares tomorrow am.

We haven't had any snow yet but starting Monday night at 7 pm, there's a winter weather advisory in affect until Tuesday 7 pm with snow, sleet, freezing rain.

I'm glad you're feeling better and I'm sure you'll be getting death glares, especially from Angie. LOL What a rotten thing to pick up, I have to get into the clinic this week, think I have an ear infection and maybe sinus infection. Took echanacea for a couple of weeks to get through Xmas, but time to get in to have myself checked.

I was thrilled when Leo fought me this am, because I'm sure that means he's feeling better. I'm not sure how long he has to take the meds, it's been 10 doses already and he has 50 left! But for as long as his liver is grossly swollen. I'll keep you posted on results as time goes by.

When Pookie's medicine refills run out and Dr. McC won't authorize for more unless she sees him, then I'll consider having another ultrasound done. I don't want to stir up more trouble if I don't have to.

Did you get the milk thistle yet?

Hi Gina, guess we'll have to wait but he seems to be doing so well!

I just had Nathaniel in the bath, boy is he a whirlwind! He swims, then jumps out and if I'm not there to put him back in, he gets off the counter and starts running around. So I have to stand over him the full 15-20 min. He feels a 5 min swim is more than enough time for a bath :lol:

Leo looks so well this am, still fighting his meds but he has his head right up and is looking really well. He's starting his 2nd 10 day batch of meds.

No, Gina, we haven't had mail delivery since last Thursday and closed again today as alot of people have Boxing Day (day after Xmas) off and since it was on a Saturday, we get Monday in lieu. We're a commenweath with England and Boxing Day tradition started there. So it's an xtra day off for alot of Canadians. So we'll see what gets delivered tomorrow.

He's still fighting me on his meds, but loves that he's getting a soak every day. He's also enjoying lots of snuggles while I'm still home. I haven't heard from Heath Services at all, hope to tomorrow so I can start the "return to work" process and start getting paid more!

Leo has been doing really well, he doesn't like to swim much but he walked 1/2 way across the living room today and then later, climbed from my tummy to my shoulder, so he's getting stronger every day. No idea if it's the meds working but he goes back to the vet on Saturday, so will update you then, k?

The rest are doing fine, just lazy. This is how I found Castiel this morning when I woke up, double sexy legging :lol: :

She also laid an egg last night. We had an earthquake on Vancouver Island which is about 75 miles by ferry and land from us. It cause a boom and shook the building which had me out of bed. This happened at 11:45 last night, I'd just gone to sleep. So I checked the geckos, they were fine and there was no egg in Bunny's tank, but there was one this am. It was already starting to shrivel up, so she laid it after the earthquake. A couple of friends think the earthquake shook it out of her, not sure if that's what happened. So this is 6 eggs she's laid this year and she's 10 years old!

The dragons are all fine this am, like nothing happened. Guess it takes more than an earthquake to wake them up. :mrgreen:
