We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

So here are a few pics, he's a yellow & dark gray, light gray colour.

Under the communal power sun in the living room:

Discovering there are girls in those tanks up above, he has a great black beard for such a skinny boy:

On the couch, he's got a pretty diamond pattern on his back:

Hope you enjoy

Forgot to mention crappy brumation I hate it since Vash gave me my first time with it. I'm still not happy with it at all and I get its natural but jeez...it sucks so bad.

Good luck September 24!

Good luck with your surgery, just in case I don't get to tell you before the date! I'm glad your babies are doing well :)

I hate the idea of brumation. Haven't had to go through it myself yet, but I don't want to. I bet I'll be a worrywart the whole time, every time.

Thanks for the good wishes, just nervous but getting very organized as I still have to care for my babies and the bugs...so far so good.

As for brumation, it's a worrisome time for all of us. Alot of us have had alot of experience with it. I read the Brumation article on here every winter as it's well written and about different types of brumation, so you can refer to it if you need to.

Just posted on your thread, loved the outdoor pics. Its getting too cold and no sun for my crew, but they had lots of sun the last 4 months!

Thank you! It's good that your were able to get some good summer sun. I am lucky weather-wise as I live in Texas. The days are slightly cooler now, but "cooler" for us is the high 80's. We probably have another month before the temps dip down too much, and even when they do we should still have some warm days up until (and maybe even through) November. But December - Feb tends to be pretty chilly.

HI! Thanks for showing me where this was. I have to admit that I did not make it through all 489 pages, so if I don't know something and am coming into conversations in the middle - sorry!

I LOVE YOUR DRAGONS! The pics I have seen are great. They are all so big. I am having a hard time believing little Pogo will ever be even close to that big! Do you have a favorite (or is that like asking if you have a favorite child)? I can't imagine having more than one - I would probably worry myself into a ditch.

I saw the talk about brumation above ::shudder:: I will be certain that she is dying - no matter how many rational people tell me otherwise. :puke:

Glad to be here! :blob5:

Don't worry about it Pogo, we're all the same with brumation. Vash (RIP) already gave me my first time
I swear I thought he was dying I was 17 at the time.
I was like "wth...I just got him and this is his lifespan?!"
He was active before this. Now I have my third beardie, Broly and he is only 8-9 months old and he's slown down to pratically sleeping some days and up others. He's what I call popcorn brumating as he isn't totally asleep yet it's his first year he's not sure what he wants to do this fall/winter.

Hi Pogo's mom, glad you made it over and don't bother trying to read all the pages, goes back to 2010 when I got Leo, who's now 8 years old. I don't have a favourite, they're all my favourites. It would too hard to choose 1, they're so different. Cierra and Nathaniel are sleeping now, but they'll be up on Sunday for baths and basking. Cierra needs to poop before I'll let her sleep for any length of time. Nathaniel hasn't eaten for over a month but he has plenty of weight on him, so I'm not worried about it. He's been sleeping for over a month, but I get him up every Sunday for bath. He won't eat but he likes to soak & swim, then bask and the next day he makes his way back into his hide for another week.

Castiel, Gabriel and Leo are slowing down alot. Castiel was in his hide this am but I pulled him out and put him on the ramp, it's bath morning today, so they need to be warmer.

Still haven't had a minute to swtich the converters to see if that will make the timers work for Gabriel and Castiel. Nathaniel's lights are off when he's sleeping, so it's only for the two of them. Right now I turn their lights on when I wake up, then turn them off when I get home. I'll get this sorted on the weekend.

So much to do before I go to my sister's on Wednesday, she's having me stay over Wednesday and Thursday as she wants to keep an eye on me before bringing me home on Friday. It's going to be strange to be calling in sick & getting on to short term, still don't know how long I'll be home before I can get back to work. Luckily have lots of books, magazines and lots of stuff on my PVR, except the darned thing broke down last night, so now I don't know if I've lost whatever was on there. I have a technician coming in Wed am when I'll be home. Hopefully all the movies & shows I taped to keep me occupied while in bed for 2 weeks are still there.

Always something...

Hello Deb,

I Hope your surgery goes well! At least your sister will be helping you out also. I am sure you will find plenty to do while at home, like spoiling your dragons even more. LOL :D
I hope that they are all doing superb & are healthy, too.

Good luck with your surgery Deb. You have waited a long time for this and I'll bet it will help improve your pain & mobility once you're all healed.

That is good that you will stay at your sisters on Wednesday & Thursday. The first 2 days are the hardest. Do you have someone that will be helping you with meals & your babies's care so you don't get around too much? Hope you can get the times working again to make it easier for you.

HUGS to you, take care & good luck if I don't talk to you before your surgery.

Thanks Tracie and Diane,

I'll be mainly on my own with the dragons but I think only Leo will be up when I'm home from Gail's. Castiel went into his hide this am and was still there when I got home. Gabriel is up on his branch and was there sound asleep when I got home. Leo has been sleeping under his light after I feed him, so except for making sure he gets his bugs and greens in the am, he won't be a bother. I was more concerned with them wanting out, but I can't worry about that until I'm more mobile.

I have lots of frozen stuff in the freezer, I'll have a TV table and chair right beside the counter, so I can microwave, put the meal on the table and sit to eat. Might have to put a cushion under my foot.

My cleaner is coming on Sunday morning so I'll get everything organized the way I need it to be. She's a wonderful woman who is very efficient.

I know it's going to be rough for the first 2 weeks but I have alot of support. Eric has keys, so does Cami and now my sister will have a set, too. So I know I'll be alright, two weeks will go fast!

And a few pics,

Cierra before she went back to sleep

Leo on the ramp, he's getting around a bit better, which is good :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
