We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

So here are a few pics, he's a yellow & dark gray, light gray colour.

Under the communal power sun in the living room:

Discovering there are girls in those tanks up above, he has a great black beard for such a skinny boy:

On the couch, he's got a pretty diamond pattern on his back:

Hope you enjoy

Hi everyone, Castiel is home. When I told the guy at Fed Ex that I was picking up a Bearded Dragon, I had to unwrap him so they could all take pictures and ooh and aah over him, it was just so much fun! He's a handsome boy and was cold, so he snuggled in on my shoulder for the whole ride home. He was such a good boy, considering we were in the car for 3/4 of an hour (got lost a couple of times getting out from the cargo area of the airport). So here are the pics! He's basking in his tank (he inherited Puff's tank) and watching TV. He's such a beautiful boy :D

I had to take these pics of him on his basking spot as he was a bit warmed up from my body warmth, but needs UVB, he's been travelling since 5p on Tuesday. What a trooper he is. At least he likes to snuggle, made it easy to bring him home, he never moved. I had the sunroof opened, so he got some sunshine, too.

When I got home, I put Cierra back on the ramp, Gabriel back in his tank and Nathaniel in the sunshine. When I looked over, Nathaniel had jumped off the chair and was on the barrier (I had closed the door) with a big black beard and staring at Cierra, what a horn dog! So he's back in his tank. I'm off to eat breakfast, then they'll all get baths and fed. What a day so far!

Yea Castiel is home :). I'm so relieved that he made it safe and sound. My anxiety was getting up there . He is a little snuggle bug. He had a non-reptile person snuggling him Sunday at Repticon 8).

Deb I'm so happy that he's home :blob5: :blob8: :blob5: He looks so comfy watching TV 8)

Now maybe I can get some work done

Castiel is home safely! Yay! :blob8: And he's a snuggler, too, so that's a bonus in my book. Enjoy your day with you babies, Deb. I hope you feel better soon.

He's done alot in the 2 1/2 hrs he's been home. And yes, Sabrina, thank you so much for this beautiful boy :D He made the trip with flying colours, I have to let Sam know of his adventures. He's had a bath, he actually pooped and he's in the last bit of sunshine on my balcony. He also go his liquid calcium, licked it up like a champ. Hasn't eaten yet, but then he's still getting used to his new home.

Thanks so much Esther, Jen and Mindi, he's a real sweetie. Gabriel isn't impressed at all, neither is Nathaniel, but that's normal. Lots of black beards going on. Castiel even bobbed at a cartoon on the TV, so funny. I'm just sorry I have to go back to work tomorrow & have a busy weekend, but I'll be mainly home. I weighed him and he's 408g, not sure if my scale is off as he was 373 when he was shipped!

Wow, he doesn't even have the slightest of a gray beard in those photos!

Welcome home, Castiel!

Does anyone know that there's a new kid in the house?

Deb, your very welcome. I'm glad he's a good fit for your crew :) Yay for poop, the things that excite us . I was worried that he would poop in the shipping box . I soaked him at the hotel on Sunday night for about 30-45 minutes hoping for a poop, silly boy wouldn't go (I guess he wanted to share that with his new mommy ). The babies all like their liquid calcium (I'm guessing you get it from Tracie). I don't think your scale is off, I weighed him last week, so he could have gained a "few" grams in that time :)

I do see lots of black beards in your future (he would black beard at the geckos in the cage next to him  and he would black beard at his own reflection, occasionally ).

He's funny, he even spent 20 min out on the balcony in the last of the sunshine. I put Cierra out (her UVB bulb is failing, I've already ordered another one but until it gets here, she's on the ramp alot. Luckily all 5 of the other Arcadia are going strong. So this was Castiel's reaction to seeing Cierra, he knows a female when he sees one. Meanwhile, Cierra paraded around so all 3 of my boys were black bearding, Gabriel and Nathaniel, but Castiel's beard was gray, just really big

And Nathaniel's welcome to Castiel

Gabriel was also VERY interested in this new male. He's done all of his shedding so he's full of energy and was black bearding, too.

Thanks Mary, just today, though. Tomorrow he'll be in his tank all day. He ate 4 supers for me but nothing else, hopefully his appetite will be back tomorrow. He's on the ramp now, bobbing at his reflection and watching TV. I keep Disney Jr on all day, he's watching Thomas the Tank right now

I am so happy for you. Castiel is home! He is gorgeous and wow is he big  You are going to have your hands full with the black bearding and puffing up  Looking forward to his adventures with you and the others. Puff sure directed you to a nice looking boy, I am sure she is looking down admiring your new boy and happy that you are happy. OMG I am just so excited for you and Castiel being home.
