Nathaniel, Cierra, Castiel, Freya, Grrl; RIP GABRIEL

We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

Oh that's amazing! Your mom is awesome! Eric should at least be able to sit down and have an adult conversation with you. :x

I agree, I think both Eric and Tara should sit down with you(against better judgement on your part, maybe) and hear out how you're feeling, and how they are feeling. Time to be adults for them, not children like they are acting. If I have a problem with my mother I tell her so, not shut her out and give a silent treatment.

I don't understand why they will let everyone else, but you see him. It doesn't make sense and is so unfair to you. You are his grandma - one of his closest relatives. He should get to know you and be comfortable around you. It only makes sense. Especially if they ever need a baby sitter...or is only Tara's family allowed to baby sit? Sorry if that seems harsh, but I'm just wondering.

Had to stop at Safeway to get a couple of things & just got off the phone with my mom, she's just awesome.

So I got a call at work from Eric this afternoon, called him back & he was surprised that it was so long since I'd seen Leo (so where has he been? Mystery, even my mom can't figure that one out :lol: ) So I told him I'd like to come over on Sunday but her Uncle Rich and cousins are coming over that day. Seems they don't want more than 1 visit at a time, they're afraid Leo will get sick. I just wanted to smack him upside the head, because babies that are breast fed are the healthiest people in the world! But anyway, new parents, what can I say. So then I thought about it and realized that by Sunday night I'm going to be completely bushed. After working for 6 days in a row and doing gym on Sunday afternoon, all I'm going to want to do is go lie down and have a nap! So I let him off the hook and told him, regardless, I'm coming over next Monday, which is Leo's 1st month birthday. I swear, my son is just the most clueless person. I asked if he got my email on Sunday & he said yes, but didn't answer it?!? So anyway, I'll be at my brother's next Saturday getting an oil change (and my car needs it), then to my mom's. Then on Sunday probably gym again, then I'm going to my cousin's Sunday evening, so I'll go over on Monday. By then I'll have ben paid, I'll have gas in the tank and some extra to buy Tara some flowers and Eric a treat, plus I'll have the baby book gift & the card for Leo.

My mom said Leo slept their whole visit, went from Mom to Dad and still slept. She really liked their place (they have a cute 2 bedroom that is off the beaten track, surrounded by trees, have a terrace and a garden, on the ground floor and it's very safe.) Eric is taking another month paternity leave (am not even going to ask them about their finances, but hope they don't expect to borrow from me! 'cause I'm constantly broke!). So I've decided to leave it at that but after that weekend I expect to be going over a lot more often.

I agree with you Liz, guess Eric was expecting me to call to invite myself over, so lesson learned, that's what I'll do from now on. I don't want to miss out on Leo's growing at all, so guess I'll have to take matters into my own hands. I guess they're so involved in feeding, diaper changes, feeding, diaper changes, sleeping, getting some sleep themselves and Tara is still healing that they're not thinking beyond any of that. I guess it was different with me, I was alone with Eric and would have done anything to have someone with me, seeing as my ex was more than useless.

So that's what's going on, sorry for the late update. Now I'm bushed and I'm off to bed after feeding the geckos.

Had to pop in just to see how your mom's visit went. Glad to hear that you have a scheduled visit on Monday. Hope you are able to see him every week from here on out.

I understand being pooped I'm off to bed myself...just had to pop in to see how things went.
