Nathaniel, Cierra, Castiel, Freya, Grrl; RIP GABRIEL

We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

I'm hoping so, too, I'll know next weekend after I get my T4 and can do my taxes. I think of him alot and am still trying to reorganize my place in my head

I am always trying to reorganize in my head. I am lucky I managed to fit the 75 gallon in my living room :?. My house is older, ok it's really old. We are just renting. There is an old fireplace in the living room. It looks neat but takes up a lot of wall space! Hopefully you figure it out, seems like this little one was meant to come home with you!

I know, I might have figured out a way, I'll know more after I get $ into my RRSP this week, then see what's left. I got a letter that I was overpaid by mistake since last June and they're saying I owe back over $800 :shock: but I went over my pay stubs with our admin lady yesterday at work and it's not nearly that much. We got a new payroll system last June and it's been making mistakes on our shift defferential. Because I work noon-8p, we're paid another 75 cents an hour from 4p to 8p, but it's done manuallly by our admin. She found out the system was adding $30 per pay on my pay since last June, I just thought there was a small increase in my shift defferential, so never looked into it, as the $ added was in a different part of my pay stub that wasn't a place I'd normally look. So now I have the stubs at home and will be needing to call HR to get this sorted. What a pain in the neck!

Deb, you know I'm no good in telling someone NOT to get another beardie. I mean, look at me who swore up and down that I'd only have Pookie, then in a mere 6 months acquired 2 amazing girls, and now a baby. If your heart's screaming out for you to take that baby home, go for it, because you know you won't rest until you do.

I'm still trying to figure it out and I don't know if he's still there, but I have some ideas, just have to figure out the $. I can't afford another lamp stand, so he'll have to have a Reptisun 10.0, so have to find an under counter fixture so it can be inside the tank. Have to get a 40 gallon for him, too, as he'll be growing pretty big, so have to make a deal with the pet shop. So that's my plan this weekend, if it works out, great, if it doesn't, then it's fate, but I really would love to bring him home. I dream of the little guy, think of him all the time, like Gabriel, he's really gotten under my skin. So I will absolutely let you know, Gina, when I decide what to do, it'll be this week one way or the other. And he'll have to be on the dining room table, because I have no other place to put him. Then when I have $ again, I'll have to find some two stackable vivs. Meanwhile he'll have to be sideways on the table so I can cover the side of the tank, so Rubio isn't staring at him all the time :lol: I think that would freak him out big time, this huge dragon staring at him as if he's lunch!

So I have alot of thinking to do, but thanks for the encouragement, Gina, and everyone else, I appreciate it

I know how you feel. When I decided I wanted a second beardie (keep in mine we already had a leo and Jace) my boyfriend was freaking out. He was like: Where are we going to put him? Can you afford to feed him? Blah blah blah. If it hadn't been for the fact that I had fallen in love with Lance at Petco, I probably wouldn't have gotten a second beardie. But that day when I put my finger over to the glass and he came running over, he had me: hook, line, and sinker.

I hope you can get the little guy. I saved a 6 month old leatherback at x-mas, so now I'm up to 3!!!

Oh my, it's so difficult of a decision as I really don't have the space or $ but I can't let him just linger in the pet shop either. I live in a 600 sq ft, 1 bedroom apartment and have 7 tanks, 5 beardies and 2 geckos, so it's really difficult to know what to do. I'll know more by Thursday when I get my tax info and can do my taxes, that will let me know what I should do, if I owe $, then I just can't afford him, if I'm getting $ back, then it's a go. I'll just have to put him on the dining room table & I'm also going to have to get them to lower his price, after all, he was dropped off there, didn't cost them anything for him, he's been there for more than a month, so it's time to haggle with the owner if I can manage, as I'll need a 40 gallon tank, lights, etc. Anyway, will let you guys know by the end of the week.

I wish I could take him but there are three reasons why I can't.

#1 he's way to far away
#2 we just can't afford another tank and food for him,
#3, Bill doesn't want 3 beardies, we can't do 3, plus he prefers females, tho I'm willing for a male, depending on the personality of said male.

I'll know later this week, that's all I can do. I'm going to the pet shop tomorrow, so will talk to the owner about what my options are. If I can get a price I can afford, I'll take him, he'll just have to go on the dining room table!
