Hey I've had my beardie (Reggie) for nine months now. And Reggie won't drink out of his water dish. What can I do to get him to start drinking?

bearded dragons dont drink from a water bowl. they will lay in it if there dehydrated. or you could just give him/her a bath 2-3 times a week with warm water

or what you could do is ripple the water with your finger to make him/her interested or use an eye dropper and drip water over him/her snout. works for me! :D

I have had good luck useing a 7ml dropper pipettes that I got off ebay. Just put a drop of water on the tip of his mouth then he will start to lick it off and slowly keep offering more. They also work very well to give your dragons liquid meds. Baths are still important to help promote them to have easy and healthy sheds though.

Most dragons don't drink from water bowls. And providing a water bowl in an enclosure that should be roughly 105*F in the Basking spot would only serve to increase Humidity. If you'd like to keep your dragon better hydrated the easiest method would be to bath him/her 1 a day or every other day for 10-20 mins. This bath should be no higher then their shoulder and they should be monitored while soaking so that you can stop them if they decide they want to stick they're head under the water as some have reported that their dragons like to inhale water.

Making ripples in the water doesn't work for me. My beardie just stares at the water when I do that. I'll try the eye dropper thing. I saw it on you tube too. But I have to get one first. :)

Thanks

You can use a straw. Just dip the straw in the water and put your finger on the other end.

Like said,

Most dragons will not recognize still water. And IME having a water bowl in the tank does nothing but cause a mess.

Baths are a much better way to hydrate a dragon.

I give mine daily baths and drip water on his nose with the light "stream" flow of a little squirt bottle.

It all depends on the dragon. Some drink out of water dishes and some do not. Since tanks mostly are not enclosed having a water dish will not raise humidty that much. If you do not know if he drinks then bath him. If he does drink still bath him. It will not hurt.

All 4 of my dragons will drink from a medicine dropper. They just keep lapping the drops right off the end in the dropper. They sometimes drink 5 or 6 mls like that as fast as they can move their tongues! I started when they were little. I'd show them the dropper and drops of water falling in front of their face, then put a drop on their snout. After about a month they started to get excited to see the dropper when they were thirsty and started lapping the drops. Now it's easy to see if mine want a drink, I just show them the dropper.

My dragon "inhaled" water as you described and I thought he was drinking it....was he? Is it bad he has only done it once but if he does it again should I stop him?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
