I live in Canada, too,
New Westminster close to Vancouver, BC. My whole family is from Montreal, but moved here in 1979; I joined them with my 4 yr old son in 1987, so we've been out here for a long time. Right now it's raining cats and dogs and really windy, but warm. That's our winter for you. Your winters are alot colder, so I can understand your frustration about getting the right temps. Is your baby's tank in your room, can you raise the temp in just your room a bit? Or, as previuosly noted, can you use a higher watt bulb or just another bulb? Temps for babies to digest are very important. It took us a long time to get temps right, too, but once we did (used a higher watt basking bulb) our babies grew like crazy.
Your baby is so cute, Rubio, known as Rubes onthe Dragon Tails blog, has said hello to your dragon already, so now it's my turn. Welcome, welcome to bd.org, the best forum for dragons, ever.
Rubio is the only one with light blue bars & that's only when he turns his bright yellow/gold colour. I've never been able to take a pic that gives his colour justice, either, just like you.
Your baby has fantastic colours, every time he sheds until he's 2 yrs old, his colours will get more intense. Wow, he's really bright now, wonder what he'll be when he's grown!
And love the fuzzy, Rubio's going to be jealous, as he doesn't have a fuzzy, just towels to wrap up with & a thick towell as a matress for his sleeping pad.
One of my favourites it the baby food face. We've had a few of those, too, babyfood is a good addition for babies that won't eat alot of feeders. I'm hoping your pet shop will have crickets, soon, when crickets are gut loaded, they're really good as a protein choice. Also phoenix worms, but they're hard to find in Canada.
Thanks for all the pics, he really is gorgeous. By the way, you can find a list of food that beardies can eat at
http://www.beautifuldragons.com It's a great site. Just look under nutrition to see what types of greens, veggies, fruit and flowers that are good for beardies to eat.
Glad to see you, take care,
Deb and my awake dragons, at least for today!
