So happy he made it and is alive. What a horrible ordeal for you and that poor beardie. What an absolute shipping mess, great you packaged him SO well, you actually saved him.

Hope all goes well with his health and nothing negative transpires.

Thanks so much for this update. :)

He is doing even better this evening. At more roaches and is exploring his new habitat. So far, things look quite good. Let's knock on wood and in a few weeks we should be in the clear I'm thinking.

Hello,

That is so wonderful he is doing even better now! :D
I am sure he is very grateful for finally being found.
I am just so happy things ended up well for him.

Using Delta Dash shipping is a lot safer than overnight shipping by any other shipping method. Suprizingly it isn't much more expensive than overnight. I have had lizards shipped from Florida to Oregon in 8 hrs. Only problem is you have to go to the airport to get the package. I live 6 hrs round trip from the airport and have had to pick up the package at 3 am before. But its definitely worth it.
Glad the dragon was found and is doing well.

Final update:

Fedex formally declined to reimburse me for the shipping costs or for the lost revenue. (Bearded dragon needed a veterinary visit according to the recipient.) Their reason is "Prohibited Item Shipment". I've now spent an hour on two calls with managers and gotten nowhere.

All I can say is that it wasn't a prohibited item when they were taking my $100+ dollars. So, in short, I'm out the shipping and out of the fee for the dragon.

Off to the BBB I go and decline the transaction I shall...

Do yourself a favor, avoid shipping through them like the plague.

Hello,

Wow, that is terrible service I have to say!
It isn't prohibited to ship live animals! Otherwise, a lot of people would be in serious trouble.
Good grief, I can't even believe that they wouldn't reimburse you anything at all.
I hope you have some luck with the BBB.

$100 shipping...wow!!
Next time try Delta for that price.
As Tracie said, shipping reptiles is not prohibited. They just don't want to reimburse you and are giving you grief. If it was venomous you would go to jail...non venomous are totally legal.

That is horrible! Although I am glad to see that you got your little guy! Could you post a pic of him? I'm sure we'd all love to see him!

So sorry you had to go through that. I had a bad experience with Fed Ex too unfortunately. I shipped my beardie home for the Winter break (I attend school in Cali but go home to Texas over the breaks) last year and was treated terribly by Fed Ex. They were rough with the box when I brought him to the post office, even though the box was covered in LIVE ANIMAL, FRAGILE. Yet they just threw him onto the moving belt and said "oh it's fine". No, throwing my animal is NOT fine. So that was strike one.

Then they did the worst thing you could do. It was winter time in Texas so it was about 30-40F. The ***** delivering him left him outside our door without knocking, ringing the door bell, ANYTHING, in the cold weather. My mom, who was home waiting for him to arrive, had no idea he was out there since the ***** just left him there. I was thankfully near my phone when I got the notification it had been delivered, but he had been out there in the cold for maybe 15 minutes before we knew. I'm just thankful it wasn't longer than that, because I fear what may have happened...

Of course, I called Fed Ex and they refused to do anything other than notify the driver and apologize to me. No reimbursement, no credit, nothing. I will never ship him again using their service because of he inconsiderate they seem to be with live animals. Maybe we both just got unlucky, but the second anyone puts my animals in danger, I'm done with them for good. So glad your beardie made it through safely though and I hope you never encounter another problem like this again. :(

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
