Lighting reflectors.

Ive just ordered an arcadia 1. Ill suss it out when it arrives lol

So reflector is here an ive managed to fit it. Is it normal that the cage looks darker? Im guessing so as the light is reflected downwards.

Its deceiving cos it makes it look like theres less uvb lol.

Is there such a thing a bulb that gives out heat for basking plus uvb? Like a 2 in 1.

Little man was oblivious to all the banging an crashing fitting the reflector an stayed fast asleep zzzzzzzzzz

Mercury vapor and metal halide bulbs produce heat, bright light, and UVB. They are nice if you want all in one but the downside is that they need to be at a set hight according to UVB output so you may have trouble regulating the heat and need additional heat bulbs. I prefer to maintain heat and UVB separately in my main tank. I do use a good mercury vapor bulb as a portable basking light in the living room though. I'm not as concerned about exact heat gradients there so I just set it 12'' up which is appropriate for the bulb I have and he returns to bask there as needed when he's roaming the house.

MVB may not work for you as the mesh where your basking bulb sits may filter a lot if the UV out

Kay do you have the 2.0 bulb in your tank too? I took mine out but now its sooo dark. Think i need to put it back in x

We have got the 2.0 in one of the tanks it does seem to make a big difference to the brightness! X

remember folks you can just use a regular florescent bulb (if you need extra light) so that you can get nice and colorful tanks too

Do you mean a reg bulb for basking?

He means you can use a normal household tube light for the extra lighting instead of the 2.0 % UV light.
But seeing as you've got the 2.0 I'd use that til it blows & then maybe compare prices & go with a normal one. X
