Life or Death EMERGENCY! Please help

My husband bill and I took Stubbles to the vet today, they did a x-ray and blood test. They both came back okay. It turns out that she is not getting enough calcium. They gave us antibiotics to make sure if she is sick that will get taken care of. They also gave us liquid calcium to be given two times a day. We have to bring her back the next three days to get fluids injected under the skin as well. So right now we are just relaxing under our lights and getting our calcium soaked in. We will keep you posted.

Hello,

Great that you got her to the vet for bloodwork & x-rays.
The liquid calcium should kick in very quickly for her. Continue that twice daily for a month & you should see marked improvement in her. Did she eat anything today as well.
I hope that she starts feeling better soon.

We gave her 6cc of Squash lv one baby food before taking her to the vet. She also pooped while we were there which was good.

Not many updates for you guys. She is still pretty much in the same condition (not moving anything but head). We're continuing her meds. She better get healthy soon!

we're crossing our fingers for you!!! Hope to hear good news soon!! So glad to hear you found a good vet. We haven't needed one yet, but when we asked our vet we've had for years if she treats beardies her response was "sure I just hate birds." :shock: Not very confidence inspiring though she's been there for our cats & rats... keep us posted! *hugs*

Well...sadly things still arent improving. She has been noticeably gaining weight which is a good thing, but as time progresses, she is getting less and less energy. She almost doesnt even want to keep her eyes open anymore. We're so sad :*-( I really was hoping it was the calcium deficiency, but it doesnt appear this treatment is working.

Hello,

Did they do x-rays on her? She is older than 7 months then, correct? How old do you think she could possibly be?
I ask because it is possible she could have infertile eggs, yes. They have been known to develop eggs under the age of 1 year maybe an ultrasound would show undeveloped follicles that have not been shelled yet.
If she is not improving, it could be another complication. Though, I do feel she is calcium deficient. Remember, with Reptiles, they do take awhile to improve & are slow to get better. Did you move the basking site to where she can get within 6-8 inches of the Reptisun tube?
Though, you know your girl better than we do, so, if you feel something is off, it probably is. You will need to take her back to the vet for an ultrasound if possible.
Do you have a copy of the blood test results that I could see? Maybe something was missed.
Is she done with the antibiotics? Which one was given to her & what was the dosage? Did you give any probiotics with the antibiotics? Sometimes antibiotics really affect their normal gut flora & upsets their tummies & their systems.

Yes they did do xrays on her and said that they saw nothing wrong with them. She is a little over 7 months old, and there were no eggs inside her. I dont have the blood test results, but they assured me they came out clean as well. She is still on antibiotics. we have 6 doses total, and we are to give her 1 dose per 3 days. we're giving her prescribed calcium 2 times a day. I removed the screen at the top of the cage, so that none of the uv is blocked. ive even been bringing her outside to get some nice natural sun. The vet (and now me) fear that her sickness may be viral, and if so there is nothing we can do about it besides put the poor girl down. I hope it doesnt come to that. I'll keep ya posted. Thanks all for sticking with her this whole time!

I'm doin alright. At work right now. The lovely lady is at home resting. We gave her calcium this morning, and I have to give her her antibiotics when I get home. She seems to be less and less energetic each day that passes. She has started doing something strange the past couple days though. At a pretty regular interval, she is opening her mouth and sticking tongue out (much like when they get too warm and open mouth to cool off). When I woke up this morning she was doing it even before her lamps and baskingnlight were turned on. Any ideas why shy may be doing this?
