LG ~ The Handi-Capable Bearded Dragon

All day today, I've been trying to get her to eat on camera so I can get you guys some new feeding pics... She refused to open her mouth; Instead she kept sliding off the edge off the enclosure making me catch her. Finally I took her outside to bask because I knew that's what she really wanted.

apparently I got a bad batch of crickets from petsmart, the day they came in; They started dropping like flies a couple days after I got them so I called petsmart and asked them what the deal was...

They said I might have gotten some stressed out crickets that got over heated during the delivery. They're gonna let me take back the dead feeders and replace them, it's just a matter of getting back over there.

Gave LG some baby food because that's all I have on me at the moment, but I am going to get back over to petsmart on the bus asap and exchange those crickets...

Could it possibly be because of the cricket virus? Make sure they don't pull a switcharoo and give ya Jamacian field crickets. Those guys apparently BITE. Quite hard from what I have heard.

Got them from Petsmart, I don't know what species they normally carry, but I will ask when I go to return them today.

If I drove, I would get a refund then get in the car and go buy the crickets somewhere else, but I simply don't have that luxury... I have to work today and bus rides take a long time.

Tell me about it. x-x If I could do it over again, I would probably still have moved here(city), I love it, but I hate not having a car. I feel so trapped.

Now that I think about it though, (duh), you crush the cricket's heads before you feed LG, don't you? As long as you yourself don't get bit, the new species shouldn't have a negative effect on her.

I can imagine. =/ I had migraines. 3 a week or so that lasted a couple hours to days. Went through that(and other symptoms) for roughly two years, seeing all kinds of Doctors, getting poked with this needle, injected with that one. They never figured out what was worng. I was dying, then one day I woke up and felt fine. :shock: weird, huh?

Do they know what causes them? (Not that I have much faith in doctors, but good ones DO exist, I hear. lol)

Yes, it sounds sad but I squish the cricket's heads before giving them to LG; That way she used to have a chance at chasing them without them escaping into her enclosure... Now that she's apparently had a stroke(a vet over the phone seemed to be thinking this too), she doesn't chase food and I have to hand feed her everything so I definitely squish the crickets because she often drops what I give to her and I have to pick it up and try again and again until she finally gets it(here comes the airplane! :lol: ).

Sorry about the migranes... So they're gone now? I don't know exactly what's causing my seizures besides "abnormal electrical brain activity". I am schedualed for an MRI this month then an EEG next month; Hopefully one or the other will get to the bottom of this.

And yeah, I am perfectly healthy now. It was very odd. I had all sorts of scans and tests and things. =/ At one point I remember asking as the Dr. was drawing a rather large amount of blood what exactly he was testing for this time. He gave me a strange look and said simply, everything. o.0 I hope they figure out whats up and you feel better in no time!

I'm sorry!

I've been having some serious computer issues, today I spent two hours rebooting and redownloading everything I need just to be able to get online and access my favorite sites like BD.org...

The Petsmart near my house is apparently having trouble with their crickets right now; They keep dying before LG can eat them. When I got in to buy them, they are dying there at the store too; I assume the employees sweep them up before the customers see too many piling up, but I did see the same thing happening there.

It's not that much further to the other Petsmart on the bus, I just need to figure out the buses I need to take to get there;

LG has had a couple Silkworms and also a couple butterworms; I've been getting fresh leaves for the silkies, so they must be nutritious!

Fed her a buffet of worms today; Silkies, Waxies and Butters...

I tried taking some good pics, but lately she keeps doing this thing where she tries to launch off the edge when I'm feeding her with one hand and holding the camera with the other... Kinda leaves me short handed to catch her when she starts slipped off the edge of her enclosure.

I will try again though, or if I can't get any successful pics, I'll just upload the pics before she ate the worms.

She seemes to like the different food items, especially the bigger worms(butter, silk)... They are meals in themselves and I'll bet the silks are nutritious because I've been fetching fresh Mulberry leaves every day and rinsing/drying them before feeding them to the worms...

Ok, well I am off to run some errands. I will keep you all updated and keep the pics coming.
