So, I’m confused abit here and having some trouble. I have one of these damn tall tanks (24”) and having an issue to get the proper basking temp. The basking lamp is 100W and gets between 93°F-97°F. It would be warmer for him if the little guy would lay on the hammocks, but he insists on the cave. So the distance is roughly 18” from bulb to basking area. I’m trying to avoid placing the lamp inside the closure as he likes to climb in the leaves. I added another lamp 75W which brings the temp to roughly 104°F but I’m afraid that the air may get to warm in his cool spot which is sitting at 82°F with only the one bulb. I will be purchasing a larger tank once he gets bigger, but for the time being, I’d like to get this figured out. I hope that this makes sense and would love to hear all suggestions.
Would it be safe to run a 100W and a 75W basking bulb to get the temperature in the low 100’s on the basking surface in such a small enclosure?
Encloser is 30g 18”x18”x24”h
basking is 100W THRIVE basking bulb approx 18” above basking rock
uvb is 15W 10.0 reptison tube
digital probe sits on his rock
cool area is 82°F
humidity is 38°F
